Yesterday I ate too much. I chose to do so. Kind of annoyed that something as little as a snow day and not getting to the gym and negative temperatures would be a reason for me. I would think after 2 years in I would have better control. I bought this peanut butter popcorn mix that I knew I shouldn't have the other day. It started off fine- just one serving for 130 and then I thought- eh- I can waste 260 calories on this if I want to and then yesterday I just weighed out the last 4 servings. It was delish. Peanut butter with chocolate drizzle and reeses pieces and pretzels and tiny chocolate candies. (of course I ate way more than just the popcorn). And then the gym being too far to get to and working from home meant aside from some shoveling- which I quite enjoy- there was no other exercise to be had. Today- the snow is even worse. It has stopped for the time being but there is no way to get to the gym so I am either going to do a cardio type workout on TV- maybe some old tae bo- or bring up some dumbbells from the basement- which would be a workout in itself. So that is today's plan. Hubby is staying over until 11 a.m. I will have to shovel him a spot to get back in the driveway. I love to shovel, vacuum, and mow the lawn. I just love immediate satisfaction. Too bad muscle growing isn't so fast.

That popcorn sounds really good and you're not still eating it today, so that's good. I have felt the same way, about knowing better, especially when I leave a tissue in my pants and wash a load of darks! 🥴 The day you have planned sounds good. 👍 Enjoy. ❤

You've been at this long enough not to worry about an errant day. Maybe some extra shoveling will help, the driveway, sidewalk...down the street.

You will be fine DP.

I recently read an article that to change habits, I have to help myself. The author says it’s not about willpower. It’s about changing habits. I shopped at Trader Joe’s yesterday and though I was tempted to buy Blondie Bar mix, peanut butter pretzels, fig bites, ice cream & various chips, I remembered the article said don’t bring the junkie food into my house. I did buy air popped popcorn. Everything else I chose was mostly fresh, healthy & tasty. Just get back up on the horse and continue to ride it best you can, one day at a time.

The good news is it's not in the pantry calling your name, now. There is just something about cold snowy days that makes you want to eat a little more.

I always get a bit of the kick of those people who post a gain and says I worked out for the first time yesterday and so this must be muscle growth. LOL. Looks like you are doing fine. Not very good with temptation food either. It is what it is

What would you do without all this great advice, says Girth from the peanut gallery?

Yeah- I was a bit dramatic. I'm not too upset but it doesn't take much overage to really up the daily average calories and I had been doing quite well overall. JinnaF- we buy lots of snacks. I would die if I had to only eat "healthy" but typically I do well with a serving size of something. My ben and Jerry's pint actually lasted 2 days instead of eating it all in one sitting. I actually weighed it out. So definitely progress and usually do ok. I would agree that it isn't about willpower and motivation- it's about just doing what you need to do to get where you want to be without much thought or choice given on whether you feel like doing it. Anyhow- supposed to be working from home but I am playing on FS. OK- Back to it!!

Liv, I am slightly amused by those posts as well. I *wish* I could put on muscle that easily. It's especially funny if it's a YouTube jumping workout or light cardio. No, you're not gaining muscle from that.

I'm inspired by the idea of having the self control it sounds like you have 99% of the time. Anything "yummier" than almonds for snacks in my cupboard, I can't resist at all right now. That popcorn would have been gone on Day 1 😂

Poethelena- Often times I have excellent control- but there are some things that I just know I shouldn't test myself with. :) Other things I have a hard time with are these certain kind of tortillas that come ready to cook and also imitation crab salad. Those really cause a struggle- which is odd because I love sweets so much. But practice makes perfect and when you know you can have some the next day, it really makes it easier to eat. My whole life I would restrict calories and eat nothing sweet or carby or fun in any way for as long as I could and then overeat and not want to stop because I knew I would have to be super restrictive again so i would binge and eat it all and "restart" the next day but sometimes (often times) I couldn't bring myself to restart and I would gain and gain. Anyhow- that's it in a nutshell- I;d rather eat like a normal person and enjoy all things in moderation. I'm not perfect at it- but I am way better. You will be able to do it, too!

I thought a pint was a serving? Now that I’ve seen the driveway I know where the pbpopcorn calories went. Thanks for showing us your contemplative side, DP!
