NSV of the day involved Christmas cookies. As teacher I am often gifted with cookies. Yesterday, when faced with a plate of cookies my solution to the dilemma was to take 1 bite of each type of cookie and toss the rest. I have had to learn to toss sweets. This way I could still tell the giver that they tasted good but not get myself into a cookie coma that would snowball into a cookie catastrophe. I am learning there is much more to a holiday than food! Merry Christmas Fat Secret Family.

We were all brought up to celebrate with food and family meals. I do t know what generation is going to stop those traditions.

How sweet you got cookies and what a great solution!! If you had multiple of each cookie you can always re-gift to friends and family too :)

Oh my gosh, I thought I was going to be so good, but someone brought the biggest platter of homemade cookies into work, and they were not your average cookies. I brought a few home even for my husband so we could examine them and try to learn what’s in them, so I can make them.😋😋😋 Not so good when you’re trying to be good, but Christmas is probably not the time to worry about being good except for Santa. Today I’ll try your method and just take a bite, but I need that bite to go with the coffee at work.😄

You're stronger than me. I find it very difficult to resist cookies.

I have been enjoying Christmas sweet treats in moderation. I did pack up a bunch of the cookies I baked with my granddaughter & sent them off as part of their Christmas gifts for family. I kept a few but knew I'd eventually eat them all myself if they were here.

I totally agree— I toss a lot of food gifts after tasing. I give food gifts as well and I expect some of them get tossed as well. I have learned to bake in miniature. Small 6 inch cake pans, pie plates, bread pans and cupcake. Enough to show I care and things I generally know freeze well.

A friend made treats and I did same. Ate one serving and tossed rest. Didn’t tell her, of course. And I didn’t feel guilty either.

Oh my gosh, when I was young if someone gave me a tin of cookies I literally ate the whole thing that night!!! I hated myself for it but I could not stop even though I felt like I wanted to puke!!! Now I take out a couple and put the rest in the freezer. It's tough for me to toss food but it's a waste if it goes to your hips and thighs and causes health problems. Which in the end is more costly! Definitely better to throw it away in that case!

You did the right thing! I've thrown out plenty of high calories and never have I regretted it.
