Siegels's Journal, 13 November 2020

Good morning friends. I just returned to Los Angeles after 5 days visiting my daughter in central PA.

I always love seeing her despite no access to gym and 5 adults, a dog and 2 cats in a small townhouse. Limited ability to exercise, so I started running again after a 2 year hiatus due to injury. It went ok, 3 miles each time with reasonable soreness. One day doing HIIT by myself in the hall helped. All in all, I kept my weight steady despite eating what we made/had while traveling, which wasn't exactly health food. Looking forward to my home gym, my home diet, and my own bed!

On a less personal but more important note, I hope you're all staying sane and well despite the continued turmoil in the US, regardless of your politics and personal beliefs.

May calmer minds prevail so we can return to a more unified, more dignified, more compassionate, and more reasonable country under leadership who value truth over power, discourse over discord, and democracy over demagoguery.

I'm the words of the American founders, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all, with emphasis on all. Never have we needed that wisdom more.

Yay for your whole post! I'm always impressed by people who keep it together when in a different environment. I've not learned how to do that yet. I bet it is wonderful to see your daughter. Ours are too young to be apart and I already dread the day they leave. And Justice for all!! Truth!

Travel achievement unlocked! And congrats on the post injury run. I used to travel back East 6 or 7 times a year, and that "different bed, different pillow, eating out, not enough sleep" stuff was killer. And of course the three hour time difference when traveling East is just rough on a body.
