Katsolo's Journal, 15 March 2020

Swim #8 in the bag yesterday afternoon followed by really long fast walk because I needed the escape. All is mostly good, working a couple hours today. I can feel a couple seven day workweeks in my future. It'll be fine as long as I keep my goals. I'm not really getting enough fiber since I'm self-rationing my fruits and veggies until I can shop freely. Will probably hit store Tuesday morning first thing since that will limit crowds, exposure, and hopefully allow for delivery of fresh produce which is all I really need. May need to contact neighbors to swap lemons and oranges for other things, although I guess I can just start eating oranges. they're smaller than the monsters you see in the store.

BF is under self-quarantine. Just going to pretend he's on a business trip and use FaceTime to communicate. Same with mom. The internet here is holding up pretty well. Couple companies have installed fiber over the past few years and while it's been a pain with all the street construction, I'm glad they got mine in before all this happened. Older neighborhood, so unless there's an emergency, we don't generally get attention on the infrastructure items in a timely manner.

Staying off most of the social media. Contemplating watching every single Law & Order episode in sequence. That should cover a couple of weeks, right? Plus, all those episodes I missed the end of because I'd always fall asleep.

Settled on wipes and Lysol at the front door to hit hands and shoes coming back into the house. Not paranoid, just being thoughtful about what will and won't work. Reconnected dishwasher to fully sanitize the dishes. Electrician is going to come back, but I told him to wait for now. Tossing my jeans in the steam cycle on the washer at the end of the day. Just had to get into the right mindset.

Hey there Jen, best to keep a cool head days like these. That said, BF told me to go ahead and pay my mortgage even though I'd like to keep the cash on hand given the craziness around us. So I did, but I did seriously think about not doing it. Human. I think having goals to work towards that are external to the situation is good. It's like counting days to vacation. Keeps the long term in focus rather than the short. I'm thinking back to 9/11, SARS, other random stressful situations. I've already learned that it's too easy for me to get pulled into 24/7 coverage of terrible events on the news which is counterproductive for me and causes anxiety. So I don't. Someone has to be sane in my family of lunatics. I say that with some love, I still need to work through all that myself. And thank God I bought dog food. LOL

Yeah i have thought of those too. Lotsa stress, and in my experience, it brings out the extra crazy in a family that already favors crazy. And yes i stocked up on dog food and bones too, lol.

Hang in there Katsolo, we will get through this, we are Americans!! I am watching reruns of Psych and Monk as I am one of those that need comedy to offset the drama in this world.
