Chris1979's Journal, 20 August 2010

I know this is awful but I'm doing it my way lol. I'm letting myself go pretty crazy this weekend w/ the food. Getting all this urge for junk food out of my system and then on Monday, with going back to school, I should be able to get into a regimented routine again that should result in better choices and a better weight!

I have posted the official, awful, high weight. This weight puts me 2.6 lbs above what my BMI classifies as normal. But, it is the kind of weight that Info can lose in one day so I'm not THAT concerned. Once I get focused I should get it off relatively quickly.

I appreciate the suggestions for me to make a list, and for me to set mini goals. I am a huge list maker and my coupons are organized by date in a gigantic binder so I should pull from those positive organizational traits and use them in my weight loss efforts. I want to really think about it before putting anything down until I am SURE I'm in the right mindset to go for it. :)

I'd like to wish a very happy early birthday to MomofTwoGirls, I hope you have a fabulous time celebrating!!! Thirty is really no big deal.

My best friend has convinced me that I use my credit card entirely too often. We are having a contest for one month starting September 1st to see who can spend the least amount of money (aside from our set bills like mortgage and whatnot). Now THIS is a challenge I can excel at. ;) The catch is I can't use my credit card AT ALL.

THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR TODAY:
1) Encouraging words
2) Fridays
3) Forgiving loose shirts

Addendum:
I was just thinking about something and I want to write it down to remember to come back to it later... the other day I sat down and did a "real" assessment of how much I had spent on my debit card and my credit card over the past 3 months.

The results alarmed me. I was like, oh my goodness I had no idea I spent X amount of dollars on this category or that one. It was eye opening. Now I've committed to tracking every red cent I spend. LIGHTBULB! This is why so many of you swear by the calorie counter or food diary or whatever it's called on here. It's the same thing!!! I bet I eat waaaaay more than I think I do calorie wise, something I think Info once mentioned on my journal in the past.

Mini goal #1: Start using it!!!

TGIF to all my buddies! :)

Though i don't do it consciously, I see myself taking a "free day" about once or twice a week. There are those who consider this very healthy as it does allow you to indulge in cravings and get them out of the way. 2.6 pounds above BMI is really pretty good since it is such a strict standard. Great decision on the credit card, I pay everything in cash and sleep in peace. :-). Have a great weekend Chris!

Maybe that's what you need, to get all the cravings out of your system. I just really hope it won't give you more cravings!! Now you have a strategy. you now why you're doing it and how you're going to do it. Success is just around the corner! Have a great Friday Chris!

Well thank you so much for the early happy birthday wishes - I think all birthdays should land between Fri-Sun so you can really party down for them. Alas mine is ACTUALLY next Tuesday - the worst day of the week! UGH. To tell you the truth, I love your plan of eating whatever you want this weekend, getting it out of your system, and then going back on your plan when school starts, and you KNOW you have a more "regimented routine" Anyway, have a great Friday - its to bad you can't come out - not TO far for you, but it will be late at night! Have a good one!!!!

Have yourself a great weekend Chris- you have a made a decision and you have to do what your gut tells you- literally :) sometimes we really need to induldge before we dive in. Just do what you feel you need to do- if you dont, and you do what you are told, you know you will not be as successful. have a wonderful weekend, you deserve it, and i will see you on the beach on monday:) You, me and Cathy,we will be the hottest ones there:)

Good thinking Chris and great idea keeping track of all your expenditures and not using your credit card. As info says you will sleep better. lol Chris you are right. You will get back on track, start tracking what you eat and lose those couple pounds before you know it.I also am a list maker and I think you are right to mull it over, see what you think will work for you and then write it down. Make sure you don't make it too hard that you'll give up but not too easy that it won't help you. You need a happy medium. I am thinking about this myself right now as I want to add a little bit to my routine but not so much that I will hate it and quit. Ok I wrote too much ...sorry enjoy your night Chris!

I agree about the calorie counter... it is amazing once you start recording what you ate, how much it adds up...A friend of mine, many years ago, when she went to TOPS, used to eat very modestly all week... and allow herself to splurge on Friday night... it was the only night once a week where she did not count... the TOPS leader encouraged that type of behaviour as it made her feel as was not depriving herself .....it seemed to work for her.... about the credit cards... I hardly ever have cash on me so I use my credit card for everything.. however, I monitor it very closely and I do pay it off every month... so I never had an o/s balance.. it works for me and I am glad because it is always so hard to get cash.... It is scarry some times when we really monitor our behaviours... have a good weekend...
