Day 5 of a planned 5 days of ‘no solid food’ fasting

I have been just going through the motions on my “diet” this week, but, had another “best weight loss week”. Other than when I was ‘water fasting’, I have never lost weight this fast. Even though I haven’t 🏃🏾‍♂️ run in nearly 2 weeks, and only been to the gym 2 days in the past two weeks, I have lost 7 pounds in 4 days.

I think the reason may be the 🏋🏾‍♂️ heavy weight lifting I did, during the weekend, when I was eating ‘solid food’ and consuming about 200 carbs a day. The carbs are what allow me to ‘lift heavy’ (my squats and deadlifts average 220 pounds).

While the weight loss is good, the numbers show that carbs are not good for me when I am trying to lose net weight. Eventually I would like to get down to 160 pounds. While my body looks a lot better from all the weight lifting, I still have a layer of fat that still needs to go. Last week I was 167 pounds, this week I am 168 pounds, so my net weight is slowly climbing.

However, this weekend I will have a 3-day weekend, so I expect to gain even more than I did last weekend. I will then do a 4 day, not a 5 day 'no solid food fast'. So I do not expect any net loss 👎🏾🤦🏾‍♂️.

I could “dig in deeper” and fast on the weekends, but, I have been doing this a year and learned that it takes a huge mental toll when I push myself too hard. So, I have to do my best and accept what happens and, most importantly, be grateful and happy.

😎 Life is Good! Have a great day everyone!

Hope you have a great weekend. So lifting on your eating days looks to be good??? If you gain muscle but lose fat that is a win win right? Better than not lifting I would think.??? I know you have it all mapped out though.

adef, you gained quickly on your vacation and you're now losing it nearly as fast. Good work!

@liv001 - Yes 'better than not lifting' but I did some 'soul searching' and decided that I am *not* going to ever put in the work to look like the 'bulked out bodybuilders' so what I *really want* is to drop my body fat to the 15% range. So my current weight lifting is just to help weight loss not to 'bulk up'. So it is then Reaaaaaly *ironic* that I am starting to 'bulk up' recently because of the weight lifting...

@gz9gjg - Thanks! I gained fast on vacation, lost fast, then gained fast again, then lost fast again... I need to do it another time because I broke my fast today and I am already at 300 carbs. I am heading into the 'gain fast' phase...

You also like to eat.... having the capability to burn a lot of food by building that muscle would help you.... I know you have thought this through already though.

@liv001 - I am just grateful that amongst all this 'failure' at dieting, my body is still 'looking better' 😁
