I have a serious problem when it comes to snacking 😭. I ate some trail mix, then an apple, a tablespoon of peanut butter and some beef jerky....each one by itself isn't that bad, but they all start to add up. I wasn't satisfied until I ate one of the no bake peanut butter/oatmeal cookies that my husband made last night that O had been wanting all day. Maybe I should have just ate that in the first place? Snacking is my biggest struggle, if anyone has any tips, I would greatly appreciate them!

I struggle with this as well...I think it's just a matter of tastes which makes it hard but I've been doing well with grape tomatoes, baby cucumbers, sweet peppers, stuff like that. I look for sweet and crunchy things because those things seem to hit back against the cravings the hardest.

I agree with Draglist. There is a fair amount of sugar in your choices which can peak your appetite. Try some sour, ie: dill pickles, cheese, olives. 👍

I can’t snack. What works best for me is IF. I do best when I eat two meals between noon and 5 pm.

Hi, Ginmarie! "Grazing" on snacks will blow anyone's healthy effort. My advice is, first, to use the food log to *plan* all your meals the day before. PLANNING IS CRITICAL! You'll make sure you have the ingredients handy and balance the day's nutritional values, no matter what diet regimen you're following. Then commit to following your plan and confirm that you've stuck to it. No standing before the gaping fridge in indecision. THAT'S DEADLY! (I became morbidly obese 25 years ago and maintained it for more than a decade is because I ate "at will" and ate *anything and everything* that was convenient and immediately available ... and not nailed down! Funny: I couldn't keep good food at the ready but had no problem stocking up on crap!)

Besides the cookies (that my husband made...he's not dieting) these were all snacks that are WAY better than what I normally eat....when I was shopping I was trying to pick things with more protein, less carbs and lots of fruits and veggies. I have tried some intermittent fasting and I do much better on those days! I'm trying to go for 3 days a week of fasting.

The planning ahead does sound like a great idea. I will try that for tomorrow after I break my fast!

Also, advanced planning of meals you'll enjoy provides an opportunity for "good self-talk." In the past (like, last month!), I'd stop during my errands to buy and eat treats in my car, in secret. I was spending $10-20 A DAY on sweet poisons.Today, I was able to talk myself out of that behavior by looking forward to the filling, tasty avocado with Nuttzo (a "nut butter" -- good stuff!) that I'd planned for lunch at 2:00 p.m. It works, but you have to make a conscious effort to support your weight-paring efforts.

I like to nibble also. I do best with IF and having veggies and popcorn around the house for a snack urges.🌺

Another thing about snacking: Intake of *any* carbohydratess (like popcorn, fruit, even vegetables) triggers insulin secretion which, in a state of insulin resistance (which most obese people are) causes the body to store unmetabolized carbs as body and visceral fat. A LCHF/keto WOE is an appetite suppressant! Exercising discipline and focus to eliminate snacking, even if it is "good" food, you will gradually extinguish the snack habit. By definition, we are generally people who have not been able to control our eating. If your discipline and focus break down, and you give in to old eating habits, the "good" snacks soon give way to "bad" snacks, and you're soon erasing your waistline and doubling your chin. That's just the way it is!

Cico, you store fat if you eat more than what you burn.

I eat popcorn almost everyday and fruit every single day, and Im not storing fat. In fact I’m a double 00 (thanks to being consistent on my diet)

There us a theory that we should eat the thing we crave first otherwise we will eat many more calories trying not to eat the thing we crave and end up eating the thing we crave in the end. So if you like peanut butter cookies - ask you hubby to make a high protein low carb/sugar version. Recipes on line.

I eat everything I crave for , I just make sure I don't go over my calorie intake. Normally my main meals are eggs, avocados and low calorie tortillas, chicken breast and lettuce salad , so I still have calories for my treats.

Yes prohibition of a certain food seems to be the common factor of people that loose control and binge eat

Thank you all so much for all of your support. I have considered trying keto and I have been researching it quite a bit. I am a little leery thouhh because I don't have a gallbladder, and I have read conflicting articles on the effects.

Any diet works as long as you are on a calorie deficit 👍🏻

And the gallbladder thing, well consult a dr for that matter
