Hi Buddies,
Sad today, thinking of my Mom who passed away last year on Feb 20th. Dad gave her a stuffed puppy last year that was just like the one he gave her when they were just sweethearts at 16/17 years old. They were together 51 years.

Dad doesn't want to make the trip to Florida anymore because she isn't there. It's just not the same he says. How sad to work a whole lifetime and when you retire the other person isn't there to enjoy it.

Yeah, I know it's Valentine's day and I'm being Debbie Downer but I need to talk about it so I don't eat it.

He will be enjoying the Daytona races this weekend, my daughter will go down for spring break the first week of March, and I will be going down there to visit him and work from there after she leaves. So it won't be too bad for the rest of his time in Florida.

Today is Ash Wednesday and it is a fasting day, no meat. So I just ate some eggs and I am done for the night. I am going to fast tomorrow too since I am going to my sister's this weekend and can't do it then. The doctor adjusted my insulin so I am just taking 10 units instead of 20.

I hope you have a nice day of caring! I will feel better and I know I'm blessed, just a little sad for my Dad.
Shelly

Less than a year, he is still grieving but as long as you keep him doing activities with people he loves, I bet he will take up some of his old activities too. Lots of ladies his age around!

Happy Valentines Day and give your Dad a hug. Tell him to give you one too from all of us here on FS. Lost my Dad 7/1983 & my Mom 1/2006, so enjoy the parent you have for as long as you can.

Oh, it is hard to lose your mom, at any age. And sadder to lose a life-long spouse. It's great that your family is sticking together during this grieving time. Hugs to you!
