Was surprised with the gain in weigh today but after talking to a guy at work (Ex-Paramedic) and I think there is a good reason for it. The past 3 days I have had strong pain in my legs which gets worse when I lay down. This has also stopped me from sleeping (which is not good for weight loss) and has been extremely uncomfortable. He believes that I have been drinking too much water (which i did not think was possible) and this is causing water to be forced into my muscles around my legs as there is no where else to go. I almost have to dehydrate my body so that it is sucked back out of the muscles and can be evacuated from my body. As it has been very hot here the heat is a factor in this happening.

Who would have though drinking to much water would be a bad thing for you....

I'd have to say that unless you're literally drinking many gallons, you can NOT drink too much water. Sure, if you are in a special condition as right now, it might settle in your leg but does that really matter? It's not water we try to lose - it's fat. If the water wants to stay for a little while, just let it. It'll leave again soon. Then you'll see a week of AMAZING weight loss. Don't cut down on water - you need the water like a car needs fuel - and you need it for your weight loss.

I don't mind about the water weight gain. It is the pain it is causing me that I dont like. It is too the point that when i lay dawn I am in agony. I have to have so many drug (legal) to just put me to sleep because the pain is that bad.

Can you prop the bottom of your bed up so that it is easier for any flow to go back out of your legs if it is fluid in the muscles you will have swollen calf muscles but please visit a health professional as I had dvt resulting in bilateral pulmonary emboli - I had no symptoms of clots but some people do have painful calf muscles - I dont want to scare you but just keep you safe - and the chances are very small but a quick check up wont hurt

Lack of calcium can cause muscle pain and cramping...I didnt think water could hurt you.

I have seen a doctor and he has no idea what is causing the pain so has sent me off for heaps of tests. I have no pain in my calves, just between my knees and hips. Could be calcium as I don't eat much dairy.

Hi there, I used to have terrible leg pain. I noticed that you mentioned some.of your family members have thyroid problems. I discovered that a lack of iodine can be problematic with sensitive thyroids. I won't bore you with all the boring details, but by increasing my iodine my terrible leg pain vanished. I have been using iodine supplements for 6 months now and no leg pain. I'm not saying this is your problem, but it's cheap and easy to try. Hope you feel better soon. Di

Thank you very much for that, one of the test I was put in for for actually to see my Iodine levels so on Tuesday I will be able to find out if this is my problem. I am hopfully it is something as simple as that but the way things are going I am starting to worry as it is something I have not experienced before...

water forces water; if you drink a lot of water you just flush it out of your system. actually, not drinking enough water will cause leg cramps (dehydration causes leg cramps). Could be not enough calcium.
