I've discovered nori to wrap food. I've been making a high fat -no rice- sushi with cream cheese and lox. You can add raw veggies. It makes a yummy savory roll up. The nori has no carbs, it's salty and chewy. And it's high in iodine and potassium to feed your mineral needs. Good for the thyroid. You could fill it with anything - like a no cal burrito. A delicious and handy discovery!

Whole foods or anywhere they sell Asian foods. It comes in sheets about 10" square.

Those are definitely a better alternative than the couple of La Banderita tortillas I just toasted on the stove top.

You say "salty and chewy", but is there a FLAVOR to them? Is is fishy? or bitter? Or just blah-ish and more the flavor of what you put in them? I always wish I could just try a bite instead of buying a whole package of something....

Nori sort of tastes like the sea, without tasting like fish... if that makes any sense?

Me too Rckc! There are so many new and great sounding things out there. Most are not pleasant and I'd hate to spend the money and throw it away. I've heard such good things about that Walden Marshmallow stuff, so yesterday I bought a jar - yuck! Tossed the jar.

I miss sushi and will have to give this a try. I usually make sushi in a bowl using cauli rice but maybe I should try rolling my own. Thanks for posting!

Mae- the only Walden farms item I like is the caramel syrup. I put it in my coffee and have put it on my ice cream (halo top). I've not tried everything but didn't care for their pasta sauce,BBQ sauce, or dressing...

I like to saute' nori in oil and sprinkle it with a bit of sea salt.

Rckc- the flavor is more like intense leafy, almost herby taste. It is seaweed, so it is a salty leaf. I love it, it is not really like anything else. It's the wrap they use for sushi rolls. Greenish black. 5 cal. and loaded with iodine, which is thyroid food and hard to get elsewhere.

Do you have to do anything special to use it as a wrap. I miss flour tortillas. but i love salty and my thyroid can always use some help. so do you have to warm it before use or anything like that?
