Hermiones Mom's Journal, 21 August 2016

Ate too much at our annual block party yesterday, but not too much "illegal" stuff. I mostly ate the food I brought so as to avoid problems, and then I splurged and had dessert, but still "legal" -- a gluten-free chocolate muffin with some Ben & Jerry's non-dairy frozen dessert. That Ben & Jerry's almond-milk-based stuff is not bad at all, but aside from the calories, I can't eat much of it because it has corn syrup, which strikes me as an odd choice for a sweetener for a premium product actually targeted to vegans. But it really is tasty. So many tasty things are bad for you. It's pretty annoying really. Anyway, I'm back on track today. Started with a 40-minute walk and am carefully managing calories and carbs...

I truly agree with you that too many things that are bad for you taste soooooo good! A lot of things that we like are things we shouldn't be eating, it's terrible, just terrible:::shakes head:::lol anyway, glad things are going better today, and that block party sounded like you did a good job none the less, planning ahead instead of eating whatever was there!

Out of self-defense, I brought homemade guacamole and melon salad. I was really glad I did because everyone else brought pasta and bean salads, which I should never eat... I stuck to proteins and my own food...
