Emerald17's Journal, 28 October 2015

I have been in a funk; mainly because I have been feeling really discouraged and frustrated because I wasn't losing any weight. I had even started working out twice a day (5 days a week)....and I was till either gaining or not changing weight. I sort of feel like giving up. I'm 5'2, so my ideal weight is around 124lbs.....I'm about 13lbs over that. But I just *look* big because of my height AND because my face tends to get chubby when I'm over 130lbs. I saw a picture of myself recently, and it just made me cry. I already feel like crap when I look in the mirror, but seeing those pictures made me feel so disgusted with myself. I wish I knew what to do (or do better)..... I just feel really down right now. I feel like giving up, but I know that that won't help matters. I feel desperate and I'm actually considering trying those MLM products that people keep trying to promote on facebook (namely: Advocare, Herbalife, and ItWOrks!). MY DH and I tried Visalus 3 years ago; and it actually helped us....but we stopped using it because it's just too expensive. I'm just desperate to get in shape, lose weight, and lose inches. I'm tired of seeing ugly pictures of myself....
136.5 lb Lost so far: 23.5 lb.    Still to go: 18.5 lb.    Diet followed poorly.

We all stall sometimes, exercise is good but the key to weight loss is food. Try a day or two with low carbs or even a 5-2 fast cycle. I found having celery and carrots on hand is a great tool for defeating the snack satisfaction. Surprisingly it's the tiny cheats that destroy a whole day of good food. ex: one kitkat = 4 lbs of celery.

you sound as if you are doing everything you know to do and you are doing it well, the weight drops will come. all that's left is to trust the process and ignore the scale. you may be putting on muscle that will surprise you when the weight drops. when you have done all you know to do, just stand.

5'2' and 119 lbs, yet I've been asked twice within the past few days if I'm pregnant. Like Mjrhansen drinking plenty of water (no sugary drinks at all) and eating lean (in my case fewer carbs and more fresh, homemade food) seems to be working so far. Please don't give up. :)

I hear some people have success getting past plateaus with the "refeed" concept: instead of respecting a calorie amount each day, respect an average for the week. Have like 3 low-calorie, 1 high-calorie and 3 average-calorie days or whatever works for you. I haven't needed it yet but I still have a lot of weight to loose so I'm keeping it in my back pocket for the future!
