jmb3450's Journal, 23 September 2014

Yesterday was a wedding anniversary for my wife and I, 9 years. We went to Red Lobster for the endless shrimp, way too many calories but it was good. But it has me up about 3 lbs this morning so I'm drinking lots of water and today will be a light eating day. Wow - I just checked out my sodium for yesterday - 8632 mg!! I'll check my blood pressure when I get a break from work just for curiosity sake. I looked at the leftover shrimp linguini in the fridge before going to bed - all the butter had hardened and it was stuck together in a lump. Isn't it amazing how something so bad for you can taste so good.

If things work out as planned we'll be taking a mini-vacation to Ocean City MD this coming weekend. In preparation I'll be keeping things low calorie until then, hoping I can splurge a little over the weekend and still not be way off track. This month has been an obstacle course with weight loss and looks like it'll stay that way at least through the first half of October. I'll be trying to counter the obstacle days and events with light eating days and hopefully will still have some weight loss taking place.

Endless shrimp is a good deal, $16.99, good thru 11/4 I think. Go for it! Thanks to everyone for your comments.

Happy Anniversary, Jim! Oldest DD & I went to Red Lobster last SAT & enjoyed their endless shrimp deal. She spoils her Mama so much, & I love it, but the scale doesn't, LOL! I like the variety of shrimp dishes they offer with that deal too. I hadn't looked up the RDA (or whatever) on sodium til now. I'm shocked & appalled to see that there are 2,300mg sodium on 1 tsp of salt, the full amount allowed for most adults! Only like 1,500mg daily for age 50+. I usually only use salt at the table, where the taste is more noticeable than using it during cooking, unless it's necessary. But that still seems like such a small amount. But, whatever it takes to eat healthy, right? And, thank goodness, there are lots of salt substitutes out there, & many heart-healthy websites have lists of substitute herbs, spices & flavorings, & that really helps. Sorry for prattling on so about salt, but our journey is all about healthy eating,& I found this salt info interesting. Have an awesome day, my friend.
