jmb3450's Journal, 19 September 2014

I'm finally going in the right direction with my weight again after no progress for about 3 weeks. Just saying "NO" to the huge cake sitting in the coffee room - a celebration for a fellow employee with 40 years service. Having a yogurt instead.

If I can maintain willpower I'll keep calories under my RDI through next Thursday, then as long as I get approval for a couple days off work my wife and I hopefully will be going to Ocean City MD for a 4 day weekend. Looking forward to it very much - there's a nice restaurant overlooking the bayside we're going to eat at one night, REALLY looking forward to that, it'll be our splurge night out.

Thanks to ChrisComedy for passing on info. about the "The Alternate Day Diet", I ordered a copy from Amazon. I'm very interested in the health benefits from periodic fasting, particularly the potential benefit to my CHD. The more I read on my own, the more I find that conventional theory of the causes and treatment of heart disease may be off base.

Have a great Friday.

In my professional opinion, refusing the work related celebratory cake/donuts/"sweets as big as your head" is the hardest thing to do. You don't want to be rude, but you want to keep your discipline intact. Good job! Also, good time of year to go to MD!

I have a very difficult time passing up the celebratory sweets, especially when they are homemade. I congratulate you on maintaining your willpower! Hope you get your vacation and wish you a joyous 4-day weekend!

Good for you for eating yogurt instead of cake. Those small decisions make a difference in the long run.

Always wanted to go to Ocean City (actually both the one in NJ and MD) but never got there. We always vacationed in Wildwood Crest, so whenever we thought about going, we opted to go where we already felt comfortable. But I always heard good things about OC, MD. Maybe you can recommend a place to stay and give us a report on that restaurant. Enjoy your weekend and congrats your numbers and on passing on the cake

Thanks everyone. Chillie Willie, the only commercial place in OC I've stayed was, I think, the Thunderbird Motel. It's a less expensive place, basic and nothing fancy at all and I'd only recommend it due to price. My brother and his wife own a 2 bedroom condo and he lets us use it at cost which is a great deal.

Thanks Jmb, less expensive, basic and nothing fancy is okay with me. As long as places are clean, bug free and relatively quiet (no loud parties in the next room) I can deal with the rest.
