Debbie Cousins's Journal, 25 September 2021

Hi there - remember me? It's Debbie. I've just been doing my own thing, eating whatever I want, whenever I want, and the scales are moving up slowly but pretty steadily. I can't even remember what it is like to weigh and measure my food, lower carbs, drink water, or forego desserts. Did I REALLY do all that stuff? It seems so foreign to me - and right now, I can't even imagine what it would be like to go back to that place.

Things have settled down some in the life around me. PTL we got the pool closed much more smoothly than last year, and we made some adjustments that will make it easier to maintain through the winter.

My friend Maryann is still in WA (from CA) with her son, whose baby died in utero two weeks ago (at 8 months gestation). They went to the hospital day before yesterday and induced labor, and the stillborn baby was born yesterday morning - a little boy. Still praying for comfort in this tragic loss.

My friend Susan's mother died and there are two funerals scheduled - one next weekend in Wisconsin and the other three weeks later Michigan. Susan is back at work now, and it's their busy time, so it is keeping her mind off things. She's doing as well as can be expected for losing her best friend/mom.

My son and DIL still don't have jobs, and it is a great financial strain buying their groceries and covering their expenses. Thankfully, so far, God has provided for OUR needs and enabled us to provide for theirs. It takes a lot of faith to not worry about how we are going to be able to keep doing this - just making ends meet so far. But, I know that God is our Source, and that He will provide for our needs, even when our needs have changed drastically.

My hair loss has slowed some, with taking the expensive women's vitamins, Biotin, using the "scalp revitalizer" and a "stress-fix" oil. Thankfully, I didn't get any bald spots, and my hair can still be styled in a way that makes it not look bad. Still probably losing in one day what most people naturally lose in a couple of weeks - but I'm on the mend. Note to self: No more very extended fasts without doctor-recommended vitamins and supplements!

Well, that's my life. Enjoying the beginning of Fall. A few leaves have started falling, but they haven't turned colors yet. Daytime highs in the 10-day forecast are in the low 70's with night-time lows in the low 50's. Beautiful days (after a bunch of rain last week).

Hope all is well with you all. I haven't been reading my notifications, except to occasionally check to see if there are any comments to my sparse journal entries. If there is something somebody needs me to know, please private message me, as I check those every couple of days.

Love in Christ, Debbie

So glad you wrote even a little. Many of us want to hear from you and check your site often. For me, it's almost every day, and am still praying for you. I believe you will make some changes eventually. Life usually does change. Probably I am addicted to bread since wheat has changed so much, it is a big problem for me. My one victory is: today is day 20 staying away from sweets, but it is fragile because I still think about going ahead and having some.

Good to hear from you. These are hard times for many people. We have been helping our son, DIL and a couple of their down and out friends for over a year. It has been a challenge, but, like you, we can tighten our belts and share the resources we do have. Offering up prayers for you and your family. Stay well!

You've had quite a food and eating roller coaster this year. I hope that you find a way of eating that brings you peace of mind and health.

Hi Debbie~ Keep praying and you will make it through all the struggles! I find that keeping track of my nutrition and exercise are most helpful in time of stress because at least I am in control of that when I am not of many other situations~ My mother had a saying we use often "justnkeep putting one foot in front of the other"
