Jstaparrothead's Journal, 31 January 2014

In all honesty, this up, down, up, down weight in stuff is really starting to grate on my nerves! I'm still following the rules for induction, still eating according to plan, and the damn scale just won't budge. IT'S MAKING ME CRAZY! I get that not everyday is going to be a winner, and I get that there are movements both forward and back based on factors I can't control (water retention, TOM, etc.), but this back and forth with no real progress, is for the birds. I'm going to stick with it because I know it works, but today is one of "those" discouraging days.

Either way, I hope YOU are having a good day and looking forward to the weekend! :)

Yes it does suck when that scale move slowly and up and down. It's hard to see real progress. Have you tried tracking calories for a couple of days to see how many calories you are eating? Is it possible you caloric intake is high? I know most people don't track on Atkins but some people have problems and need to. Drinking water? Activity level? Just throwing some things out there, lol! I hope it goes down soon.

It can be very frustrating, I know! I took a peek at your food diary and had a couple of thoughts... I see that you're eating Atkins bars and other sugar-free treats, these often contain sugar alcohols that don't appear on food labels as "carbs" but some people process them like carbs. I don't eat them, but I've heard people say that once they cut these out it helped. You might try skipping the Atkins bars, shakes, and sugar-free foods and see if that makes a difference. Also, make sure you're drinking lots and lots and lots of water; it really makes a difference! Here's something else that may help: maybe your protein is too high. In Induction, try keeping your protein to about 25% of your calories. You want to force your body to use fat and not protein as it's main source of fuel. Hang in there, you can do this - Good Luck!!!!

I know the feeling all too well. I applaud you for keeping your spirit about you and sticking with it. Because, yes, IT DOES WORK!
