A little snippet of the Indian Feast I had for my surplus day. I must confess, this one was phenomenally amazing and likely my most painful surplus day, yet...LOL. This girl ingested around approximately 3954 cals. Let's just round it up to 4000 cals. And, yes that was the goal.

But, I also have to confess I just don't think this stomach is cut out for the 4000 cal mark. A "Stephanie Buttermore" I am not! I don't know how that girl did it going all in on around 5000 cals/day!!! This was probably the first time when I felt so full, I almost felt sick.

But, it was sooooooo good. I hadn't had Indian food in almost a year. Eating this food is liking singing the song of my people...LOL - It's home to me. I'm half Bengali and grew up eating Curry and Rice the way people eat oatmeal and cereal. So, it was painful but it was fabulous and I have no regrets.

I can say 3500-3600 hundred feels more like my max for ultimate fullness without so much pain and discomfort. So, this is a good baseline to remember for future surplus days. I didn't know if I could actually do 4000 cals, so this was a bit of an experiment.

My Macros ended around:
451 Carbs
115 grams of fat
158 grams of protein

On the daily, I'm usually a little under the average I need in all of these accept protein. And yes, all of this will be going to fuel a very active lifestyle. I also did a ton of cardio yesterday so "maybe" around 1100-1200 cals might be stored as fat, which at 112.8 lbs is okay when you're trying to hold onto and increase muscle mass.

The whole of yesterday's meals included:
1. 2 egg, mushroom, bacon, and cheese omelette scramble w/o'brien potatoes
2. 2 pieces of toast with peanut butter and jam
3. Protein Bar, Protein chips, and a blueberry muffin
4. Appetizers: 1 Samosa, and a quarter serving of "Naan-chos"
5. Chana Masala, Pork Korma, and Pork Korma with Basmati Rice
6. Garlic and Plain Naan bread
7. 1 BIG piece of chocolate cake with a full serving of Sea Salt Caramel Halo top Ice Cream.
8. 3 glasses of red wine

And, this mornings unofficial weight in....drumroll

118.0 lbs! Wow, 5.2 lbs is more than I've gained post surplus day in a while. I'll do an official weigh in tomorrow and Monday morn. I don't expect all of this to go down in 2 days, but discomfort aside I think we can say it was a success!

How absolutely wondeful to have a beautiful meal like that and a taste of your heritage to boot! You look beautiful as always!

Awww, thank you very much Melissa - it was wonderful, indeed. Probably the toughest part is eating breakfast this morning. After such a savory feast - there's not one bit of me that feels like eating, LOL.

Do you mind if I ask why in heavens name was that the goal to eat so much that you felt bad? Is there something I’m missing. A stomach that gets stretched to capacity is always going to think it’s hungry.

Kenna - Err...um - I have no idea what you're talking about with regards to "a stomach that gets stretched to capacity is always going to think it's hungry." It's an interest narrative - but, I've been doing "surplus" days since I started releasing weight back in 2017 and continued them into maintenance in 2018. I cannot recollect a time when this mind was exuberantly or extraordinarily hungry post surplus day. What I do note is I have some extra energy to put towards workouts, especially involving weights that my muscles readily benefit from and that my daily calorie burn will run a bit higher for about 4 days after. Likely, because glycogen has been restored to liver and muscles. At 112 lbs, I am already hedging towards the lower part of a normal BMI for a 5'2 person. I actually have quite a bit of muscle mass for a female at this point, so a few ounces of fat on a body with 21% body fat and a resting heart rate of 58 is aaaa-okay. Perhaps, I am unfamiliar with this stomach stretching thing because I already "zig-zag" my normal weekly allotment so I'm never eating the same amount of cals on any given day, but they add up to be about the same at week's end. Is this stomach stretching thing some medical diagnosis or a general doctor's standard perspective on "over-eating"? I'm rather dubious if it is because from what I learned from the "Doc's" mouth is that medical students are actually allowed to fail the part on exams regarding obesity, which doesn't bode well when I consider the validity or opinion from the medical industry regarding approaches to nutrition. Especially, since at this point I'm actually healthier (aside from my wbc count) than most doctors and nurses I see and consequently must collaborate with because of Multiple Sclerosis. Just sayin'. With regards to eating so much I feel bad. That doesn't always happen, it depends on the food/and or appetite on a surplus day. However, I don't know that anything I might convey regarding my love for Indian food will be all that relatable or understandable regarding why I ate beyond capacity. LOL. In short - I think this is a "to each his/her own" moment :-)

It was a wonderful time, Erg! And, yes I think striving for the 3500-3600 mark is more within this body's means, LOL. And, you're very welcome sk.17. Planned Surplus days are the closest I will do regarding a very moderate approach to "bulk & cut" as a strength trainer. But, there are many different ways to approach it, one just has to find the approach they're most comfortable with. And, yes Kenna - Indian food is very healthy as well and believe you me - I monitor my "micro-nutrients" just as much my macros. This body's immune system depends on it now more than ever... :-)

Guuuurrrrl pu-lease. Ummmmm...doesn't look like you have any health related issues...Just psychological in that you're like EVERYONE because we all want to inhale 3,000 cal a day without working out or just being able to be sedate. Not just that, but if I'm on a surplus day, it's Vietnamese, Indian, Thai, etc...not Burger King for crying out loud. I'm doing the same. Flavor, quality, and explosion...not the trash you get from Long John Silvers. Thanks for sharing. I'm working out tomorrow. You look great!

Exactly Lowkeylife. I have my free day on August 1. I'll record everything, but I know it will get burned off in 48 hours with two workouts, and I'm not even close to being fit like Egull11 or you. I'll get there soon. I hope.

I love Indian food. I think it’s very important to include our ethnic foods as a part of a healthy lifestyle. It’s a mental and emotional component necessary for our well being. It’s all about balance!

Thank you, Big boned & Low key - a good portion of those cals have already been used today, LOL to the tune of a 600 plus cal burn that included a 40 minute walk with the 20 lb weighted vest, a mile swim in the pool, and some mobility training and physical therapy exercises. I think we can state at the very least, I have utilized my glycogen stores. lol. And, my muscles definitely felt the pump from last nights feast. I love walking with the weighted vest after a surplus day - that pump from the added cals makes the vest feel like 5 lbs. instead of 20 and I let my muscles make the most of it, both the day after and for the workouts scheduled in the week ahead. And, I absolutely agree MsJay. I don't even know if I would feel motivated to have surplus days without a nice variety of ethnic foods to choose from! Thank you very much, Ireland. I love it when people tell me I look fit and healthy. It's a sentence I never thought would be used to describe me, and I am so very humbled and thankful to this body for proving me wrong :-) And, Beaux - you'll have to post your next delicious meal. I love seeing peoples post of different meals - it gives me great ideas on what I might have for my next surplus day or what I may want to incorporate into on the daily.
