GOOOOOOOOOOD THRU MORNIN EVERYONE!!!...day 499...wakin up this morning feeling really refreshed an ready to hit the street with my feet today...was down yesterday...been tryin to decide if lifting weights is really benefiting me tryin to get the weight off...on one hand its makin muscles, but i dont see a loss like i thougth i would...instead just the opposite...but i am doing 2 workouts a day when i lift...ive come to a place in the road that so many others have reached, and its hard for me to continue when i dont kno what to do anymore...did alot of reading yesterday about lifting weights and cardio...one article i just read before comin on fs said cardio will burn more calories in a day then doing weights...kinda hard to believe, but i think back to what the gym owner always told me an he always said cardio only...no weights.. until you get down to your ideal weight...hard to stay focused when your graspin at straws to get the weight off...you try whatever you can hopin that it will speed it up...today is my off day from weights...an cardio only...so gonna go for a walk an do some serious thinking about how to get back on track once again....guess we all have days when we all wonder if its all worth it in the end...mine was yesterday...but i listened to a couple of mp3s that i have ...ive had them since i first started gettin the weight off...i use them when i feel the need to refocus an get bck on track ....but decided yesterday to start listening to them daily like i did when i first started...that way i can reinforce what im tryin to do an stay that much more focused on what i want to achieve...get back to just cardio...more walking like i was before...more moving of any kind...and keep a better focus on my food, i journal what i eat everyday, but lately ive had to go bck in an redo it the next morning cause i didnt eat what i had put in it the day before...gettin off track with carbs that way...and several other things as well...today is a new day for me...im focused an i see that light at the end of the tunnel once again...i kno that ive come to far to quit...and quittin isnt one of the options in my list of options...i kno what im tryin to achieve and i kno i can do this...so here i am gettin my journal done for right now so i can get this day started and moving on....have several things i want to get done today once the rain clears the area...leaves are starting to fall and so its gonna be rake leaving time here shortly...so gonna get a start on that today...bag a few of em...later today once they dry some...and get back to walkin 2 times a day like i was...feet are doing fine...shoes are lookin like they need to be replaced already...to bad you just cant recap them like they do tires...lol...well...time to get up an eat breakfast and get this day started once again...have a great day...catch you all later!!!!

addon...morning walk over with...was a nice cool 48 outside this morning...brrrr...but didnt take long to get warm....10167 steps, 10095 aerobic, 645 cal, 4.65 mile...gonna try an do an afternoon walk...get into a new habit...

8. EAT YOUR HIGHEST AMOUNT OF CALORIES AT BREAKFAST !!!!!
9. AT LUNCH FEWER CALORIES !!!!!
10. AT SUPPER EVEN LESS CALORIES !!!
11. WATER!!! ....NEVER ENOUGH WATER THIS TIME OF YEAR !!!!!
12. TAKING DAYS OFF IS NECESSARY !!!!!! FOR RECOVERY !!!
13. DOING HI-INTENSITY WORKOUTS BUILDS UP MY HEART MUSCLES SO THAT I CAN GET MORE OXYGEN IN MY BODY TO BURN OFF MORE CALORIES !!!!!

It gets frustrating doesn't it?!?! Whew, I know the feeling! Just remember that even if the weight doesn't just fall right off.. we're making choices to benefit us in the end!! I'm still your #1 cheerleader, LOL.

YES, YOU CAN DO IT!! If'n ya need some up lifting... get your old pics out, have a look at the pants that you USED to wear, and sometimes they were TIGHT.... LOOK at your graph and how kick a$$ you've done bringing it DOWN to where you are!! Giving up is NOT an option for me, and it's not for you either! By the danged horns man, grab on and kick your cardio butt up and at 'em! lol (Hows that for a lil pep talk, semi-boot camp style?) LOL =D *hugs* I think following the advice of the guy at the gym and working on cardio is key. ;) Rock it up!!

thanks both of you...sometimes you wonder why we all got to be different an why thers not just one set way of gettin the weight off...would be so much easier to get the weight off then...instead we are all differnent, and so is the plan to get off the weight...one day at a time, and rembering where we came from to get to where we are now!!!!

Pssst. I'm only 4 & 1/2 lbs away from catching up with you :) Ya better get your sneakers re-treaded soon :p I like the cardio concept, but what if you just do a "little bit" of weights each week. Just enough to maintain your muscle mass and not "burn" it in the weight loss. Like, if you do legs & back one day a week and do upper body & abs another day during the week. Say..... Monday & Thursday??? Just enough to maintain, but not bulk up? **just a thought**

pssst...melody...if i could wiggle my nose an make the scales move...id a already done it...lol...you kno just make it move about a pound of 2 to keep ahead of you just enough to make you work that much harder...lol...if you pass me...way to go!!!!...then you will have to set your sites on another goal...lol...

I think it's strange that the gym owner told you cardio only until you reach your ideal weight. I've always heard that doing both is the best way to go - because muscle burns fat. If he were a doctor I'd ask for a second opinion! Good luck finding that magic combination!

Muscle does burn more but it also retains more fluid. I think the gym owner told you what he did because he knew the scale would go up with heavy lifting and he didn't want you to be discouraged. I got on the stair climber for a few days which uses alot more leg muscle and noticed an immediate fluid gain. Try taking a few days off of the weights and see if the weight drops.
