I'm 51 years old, married, vegetarian female. I have 3 cats but love all animals. I work with kids with special needs in a middle school. This is my second career. Before this, I worked 23 years in IT. I like what I'm doing now much better. I like reading, playing scrabble, walking and running.

My high weight was 256. I lost about 50 pounds several years ago, then maintained (plus or minus 5 pounds). When that 'plus or minus 5 lbs' turned into plus 10 lbs, I knew I had to get serious again - not only to lose what I regained, but to continue on down. I met my first FS goal of 165, and reset it to 135. Got diagnosed with hypothyroidism and the weight quickly came back and I disappeared from FS. On medication waiting for my numbers to get back in line. Back to FS to help keep me strong.

Salt: New Research
I try to stay under 2400 mgs a day, and have my FS settings choosing to show sodium in my food diary. You can really tell, at a glance, how much those processed foods add up during the day! Thanks for sharing the info, info!

sleeping horrible since started dieting & exercising why???????
My understanding is that melatonin occurs naturally in the body, and as we get older we aren't as efficient in producing it. So, if you are under 40, adding melatonin MAY not work for you. But it's worth a try, especially since others here seem to have had good luck with it in their younger years.
