Fritzy 22's Journal, 12 April 2020

I haven't been here for a couple of weeks. Dealing with staying at home. A friend sent me an email with lots of jokes and cartoons regarding the "lockdown". One was that today is March 197th. Feels like it. I haven't been out to a grocery store in over 2 weeks. That really seems like a scary place to go right now. I have enough food to last probably at least a month to 6 weeks or so. Of course it's not the kind of food I should be eating according to my doctor (fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables, no processed foods or meats). I took an inventory and have things like "5 cans corned beef hash, 1 can spam, 7 cans kidney beans, 24 frozen bagel quarters". It's really teaching me what I will keep in the cupboards once this stuff is gone and I need to re-stock. Not that crazy about all the corned beef hash or pork and beans. But loving the applesauce! That's a treat. I think I will make sure to have some canned fruit for "next time".

Today is Easter. Nothing planned. I'm roasting chick peas for a snack later today. I'm listening to some Gospel music I found on CDs. Enjoying the music and doing a jigsaw puzzle. Don't know what I'd do without my dog Bobby who follows me everywhere I go in the house. And the cats who jump on my lap as soon as I sit down.

Glad you checked in Fritzy! Very concerned about many who have disappeared. You’re doing fine as all of us are doing our best. We will all survive this, maybe a few scars at the end, but we must endure and not give up. Gospel music is great!! Thoughts and prayers my friend. Happy Easter, HE IS RISEN! ❤️✝️🙏

I have a weekly farm produce delivery starting up next week. They'll just leave it at my door. I had no idea there was such a thing until my sister told me. Maybe try searching Google for "CSA delivery near me." (Community Supported Agriculture.) Mine will even allow me to add on to the weekly order, including eggs. I'm thrilled by the service and that it will support local growers.

Nice to see you Fritzy. Happy to hear that you are doing well and Bobby and your cats are hanging in there. Your food is sounding fine to me. Sure fresh veggies etc are great but under the circumstance we have to make due with some substitutes. Have a good Easter Sunday and check in with us once in awhile!!!

Thanks Wifey - I've been enjoying the music today. Happy Easter! DP - I've been thinking about you too and hoping you are doing okay. I know you must miss the gym! I had just started and was beginning to enjoy going 3 or 4 times a week when the governor told us all to stay at home. Kpw - I don't think there is any kind of delivery service where I live. I'm in a gated community with about 1800 homes, but in a rural area. Even the pizza places don't deliver here. There are people in the neighborhood who will go grocery shopping for those of us who don't want to go out. For now I'll just keep using what I have. But I might sneak out to get some avocados pretty soon! Liv - I'm doing okay. Bobby is great. Just wags his tail and listens to everything I tell him. The only thing that upsets him is the vacuum cleaner. Thanks HCB - I covered up the jigsaw puzzle with a throw blanket and now one of my cats is sound asleep on it. Guess I'll work on it tomorrow!

Fritzy, hang in there. you are not alone through this. It is odd how stores have now become scary places. Going most places now seem threatening. I am afraid it may be awhile before many of us feel ok going to public places. My 2:pups and my car are also keeping me company. I think we are all figuring out what our necessities are.

Thanks for checking in Fritzy. I too have been in same boat - eating whatever and I need to get back on track so I started posted my food day. I started using food delivery from Aldi and it was 4 day wait but it worked out great. Our large stores around have online and are booked for 10 days. My favorite was the little Italian store near me that was taking orders on the phone and did curbside pick-up. When you ordered on phone (no computer stuff) and she was unsure if the item was in stock she would yell out 'Yoh, we got ketchup?". The lack of high tech was warm and refreshing and they had my small order ready in 15 minutes. I am thankful!

It is a strange time! I too have things in my cabinets I don't really eat anymore but in these times I have cut myself some slack. I still eat healthy but I found 3 boxes of brownie mix in my freezer..it's probably gonna be in my future..in moderation of course..lol Stay safe!💜💜

Sorry to hear that, Fritzy. I'm glad you have people around who can help. People stepping up to help is such a wonderful part of this new world.

It is best to stay out of grocery stores if you can. Great to use up what you have in your home. I am working my way through everything in my freezer and pantry also.
