Debbie Cousins's Journal, 21 January 2020

Today is an "I feel like eating everything in the house day!" Ohhh NO! I just remembered those Pinwheel cookies hidden at the back of the vegetable drawer! I really don't want to eat "bad" things, though -- I just want to eat too much! I want a CarbMaster yogurt with 1/2 oz of pecans crumbled into it. I want an Atkins Beef Merlot. But I also want to have scallops with butter tonight. But if I do all that, my Net Carbs will be over 32 grams for the day, and my Calories will be over 2,500! Ok. If I just skip the extra Atkins meal, I can still have the yogurt with pecans and stay under 25 Net Carbs and only go over my RDI of 2,000 Calories by 87. Aw shoot. If I cut out the yogurt and pecans and just add in ONE extra Atkins Chocolate-Coconut Endulge bar, I'll come in at 1,991 Calories and my Net Carbs will be less than 21. Sigh. Decisions, decisions! Oh, wait a minute! I could eat HALF of one of those Pinwheel cookies and I'd still be under 30 in my Net Carbs, and my Calories would be 1,881 (that's IF I don't have that extra Atkins bar, OR the yogurt, OR the extra Atkins meal - the HALF COOKIE would be the only extra thing I would be eating!) Do I go for QUANTITY here? Do I go for most nutritious? Do I go for the biggest splurge with the least variance from my plan? HELP!!!!

Sometimes, when I'm feeling like that I just eat something low-fat but very filling while I think about what I want to do next.

For now, I'm drinking some hot tea with heavy cream (50 calories) while I try to calm my mind, remembering that I can eat anything I want to on the Cruise! Discipline now - freedom then! That seems to be helping me get through this temptation, for now anyway.

Not so good, Shirley - went downhill shortly after posting. Been eating one thing after another ever since. I'm eating some mixed nuts now, and then I THINK I'm done gorging myself.

I have days like that. Some times we just have to get through the day so we can start again tomorrow.

Rid yourself of the demons. Exorcise your kitchen and house of the offenders. Take out the garbage. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off. You are doing well!! Don't dwell. XOXO

Thanks for the encouragement, Binky's mom and Shirley. It was a rough day, but it is OVER, Praise the Lord!
