Katsolo's Journal, 01 December 2019

Welcome to December, the year is almost over. Goals for the month, 15 December swims. I would have met the goal of 13 in November except for this last week of thunderstorms. 26 exercise rings closed. I ran on the treadmill for Thanksgiving (still hate it). Might try more fast workouts on that with hills, no running.

My knees have not improved with age. It's cold and rainy and they hurt. Sucks. Tiny win in that one of my sleeve braces is off to the donation bin as it doesn't fit.

Note to parents, when the coach insists that your kid "run past the pain," ditch that coach. I've worked hard to rehab my hyperextended knees and a torn achilles that required six weeks in a cast and they still haunt me in a big way more than twenty years later.

The December challenge is 1440 minutes of exercise. Super. Because the one thing I have an excess of is time. Oh wait, not really, but I'm idiotically motivated by this thing, so I'll probably go for it in a weird way. Trying to figure out how to get the scale into FS without much effort. Looks like they want me to use another app, so we'll see.

Time to start thinking about goals for next year. Increasing swim time, decreasing in and out time so I can get it all done in an hour during the work day. It's so much easier to swim in daylight when it's cold and the days are short. Maybe I'll dedicate five minutes to butterfly. I'm still a massive failure with that stroke but it's something I want to try and get better at. Doesn't fit my body type.

My weight is up this morning, but scale is saying body fat down, muscle mass up. This is fascinating. Definitely feeding the data obsession. Not eating this morning at the moment because my stomach feels a little off. Nothing to do with weight or anything. Just not hungry enough to move past at the moment. I might shift to oatmeal this week. Hello, Instant Pot living on the counter until it warms up again. These chilly mornings just make it a necessary thing.
