Draglist's Journal, 19 January 2019

Spent a lot of time studying my 2018 logs tonight and found out what worked for me. I got to the 205 target range (202-209 on average) one time during 2018. That is when I started doing OMAD with a calorie target of 1500 per day. The month before that, I was solidly in the 212-217 range by doing 1500 calories on average, but using Fasting Fridays, followed by the Fasting Mimicking Diet for five days a month. I'm not going to wait until the end of January to make this change. I'm starting OMAD at 1500. As before, if a special breakfast or lunch occasion comes up, I'll take part. But mostly, I'll be OMAD. I will, however, rearrange my macros to be more carnivore based. This will be an interesting math problem (a lot of protein all at once will take some planning). A lot of fat will come with the protein as well, so I will have a hard time hitting high protein and moderate fat, but we'll see how it goes. Will target 25-30 total carb grams. I may do a protein coffee in the morning to stick with the "30 grams of protein upon waking" aspect of the 4-Hour Body plan.

Good plan. Mix it up. That is what seems to work. Fool the body. OMAD seems to work for a lot of people. I still like my 16:8 IF even if I am losing slowly. I want to be able to eat this way the rest of my life ... something simple and not complicated and sustainable. I enjoy low carb ... I keep mine around 30 net. You might be able to eat more carbs (up to 50 net) and still get great results while you eat OMAD.

As one of our FS buddies has said in the past, "it's our chemistry set, need to find what works". I'm pretty sure that past medical events have played a part in hindering your past year's good efforts too. Hope your 2019 is much smoother...

Yes it is and it's good to have a sounding board through it all. Most of us make nice boards. Ha Ha!
