Slow and steady, getting things back 'in control'. Noticed that Keld is struggling w/ the Sugars..and so was I... but he doesn't live a low carb/sugar free lifestyle. And I supposedly DO!!! So for me, it is quite EXPECTED to torture myself in this manner, when I have indulged in the very things I know I should not!

You know, there is a scripture verse where the Apostle Paul talks about doing the very things he does NOT want to do...but yet NOT doing the things he DOES want to do! Yikes...this is an aged old problem. We're human!!! And it is quite difficult to ALWAYS steer clear of the problems.

I have (once again) been reading and looking at a variety of ways to figure out what I can ... and cannot eat... on a low carb lifestyle WITHOUT:

1. Stalling my losses
2. Invoking the crazy craving monster afterwards.

Let's just say...icecream is nowhere on the POTENTIAL LIST, and neither is CHOCOLATE! ;)

But now feeling much better, stronger, and without the headaches or nonstop cravings to preoccupy my mind... I am back in the game!

You know - Induction and the proper way of doing OWL, (ongoing weight loss) - has the rules and boundaries pretty well down to a science!

If we could only stop ourselves from getting side tracked, and help ourselves by following the plan... we'd be off and running!!!

Speaking of which... I am off to go for a lovely walk around a local lake this morning with a friend!

Hope you are all well...
Much Love.

I do think it's easier when we simply avoid the sugars. To me, they're pure evil. I can't control the urges once they kick it, and it gets soooo frustrating. Today I haven't had ANY sugars, and so far I am doing good. I hope it'll last, and I hope I can carry on like this until I am "sugar free". :) I hope you can do the same. Sugars are serious business, and no fun.

It is a struggle to accept the taste of food without sugar or sweeteners. But my taste buds are gradually coming around. For example, since I've stopped putting sweetener in my coffee I've noticed how very sweet half and half tastes. Once the re-educational process is complete I believe I'll be much better off.

Paula - PS - just curious, what is it you use sugar for?

I agree with you Paula that if one follows the rules, everything works like a charm! But, of course, when we begin to believe we know better and/or take some liberties, well, that's when it all falls apart. The temptation is to blame the plan/WOE, but it only works if you honestly work it! Been there, done that, and still trying to get all this through my thick skull!!!

Buffy - did I mention 'ice cream & chocolate' ??? I had a hot fudge sundae...and while it tasted remarkably awesome on my lips...it created days of incessant cravings! Now, we both know ice cream sundaes are not on any Low Carb Induction Plan! And I knew it, but ... well, I just wanted it. And I gave in and had it. Then I regretted the heck out of that decision! Not to mention the week rollercoaster ride of seeing the weight go up...retaining fluid...then diligently seeing it come back down. WASTED TIME is all it really comes down to!!! And I really don't want to waste any more of it! Much Love.

Yes you did! And I knew there might be more to the story - LOL. BTW - have you tried the Emerald Cocoa Almonds? They are surprisingly low in sugar with a real chocolate taste. And a lot better for us than hot fudge sundaes!

I picked some up a few days ago...haven't had them yet, but when I get another True Craving...that will be my go-to 'indulgence' for the next few weeks. I can only almonds about 2-3 x's / week... or they easily get to be too much for me. I LOVE THEM! But in those little sealed pouches... it seems to do the trick w/ satisfying me, and keeping me from going back for more!

Sometimes at work I take my leftover nuts and lock them in the trunk of my car. Whatever it takes!

Sugar is my crack!!! It is true, that sugar is an addiction, hence the cravings!!!

with my father he craved sweets so we used sweet potatoes and carrots or applesauce to sweeten the cakes and doughnuts instead of sugar. it takes care of the fat too as it is moist and replaces it. Use the unsweetened stuff.
