What defines healthy? I want to have a 'to each his/her own' mentality...but when I see people on here who are doing things that seriously can harm themselves, and/or their bodies/metabolisms...when will our pursuit of becoming healthy, trim and fit...or whatever...become too much!

I just want to eat normally, feel good, stop obsessing... you know...

and for the most part, I have done that. And I am proud of me today. Whether I hit my next goal by the pre-determined deadline or not... I am proud of me today.

I have not tried to do this in ways that I think are even remotely unhealthy. Just focused on changes I knew I could LIVE with. Afterall, isn't that what creating a new 'lifestyle' should be all about?

Evaluate your choices today. Then if you are making good ones...be proud of your efforts. And if any of your choices don't line up w/ 'healthy' ... ask for help and see if as a community we can come up w/ some suggestions to help you make some adjustments in the right direction!

One cannot live long term on alcohol and sugar! Just sayin'!!!

Much Love.

Great points, Paula....I may wander away from the program from time to time but at least my wandering are always based on "healthy" choices...just too much of the good healthy things! Thanks for reminding me that I should recognize and be proud of the days when I do follow plan and all my choices are healthy. Hugs....

I suspect that FS reflects the habits of society as a whole. We all know people who live on fast food. I know a nurse who lost 70 pounds on Tomoxiphin and thyroid medicine. And one of my neighbors stays alarming thin on the Diet Coke and Rum diet. Sometimes all you can do is hope they come to their senses before they do irreparable harm to their bodies.

Hey Paula, thanks for bringing this whole issue up. In the Scriptures, God tells us that, "My people perish, from lack of knowlege"; now He was talking about the knowlege of His word, but I think it also applies to lack of knowlege about what constitutes healthy eating as well. There are plenty of Scriptures outlining that as well, but I won't get into a lengthy treatise on that right now. But, it's amazing what a lack of knowelege can make you think, and do to you. Many, many years ago, when I first encountered weight gain, and saught to do something about it, without really knowing what I was doing, decided that the best way to control my weight was to; fast two to three days a week, while eating a very low calorie diet, in addition to working out 6 days a week, three days of martial arts plus running, and two days of roller skating. I don't know how many calories I was consuming, and it seemed to be working; but I now realize, that it was the wrong thing to do, as I was putting my body into starvation mode, and thus slowing down my metabulism; which hurt me in the long run. It put into motion a roller coaster ride of weight loss and gain, that I am now getting under control by living a low carb lifestyle. The point is; I didn't try to get educated on the proper things, or way, to lose weight. In ignorance, I did what I thought was right, but was wrong; which is why anytime someone asks me about low carb, or following the Atkins Diet; the first thing I say is, "Get educated, go to the Atkins website, or get the book", so they will have a reference, and know how to do it right. Whether someone is following a low carb lifestyle, or reduced calorie plan, I don't really care, but, to do what's right, you must get educated first. If you don't, then as you've said, and many others who have posted on this, you endanger your health. Thanks for bringing this to light Paula. Have a blessed week everyone. :-)
