KayBuckaroo's Journal, 20 August 2018

Well. I got some startling news at the doctor: I’m 2 inches shorter than I was 5 years ago. Do y’all know what else? Their scale weighed me at 164. SMH. I’m not going to change a thing. I’ll always be 5’10, until I’m 6 feet under! 😤

Kind of weird this thing. Recently heard more about our bones, and it was said that they are made up of around 70% protein, and the diet need to contain bioavailable proteins in order to maintain and build strong bones. I took this seriously, and find that my body composition scales now say that I have gained 7oz in bone weight. Feel pleased with that science and reality shake hands sometimes.

Incredible thank you for your story! I’m formerly osteopenia-ic (made up word) so I feel I should be paying more attention to bone density.

I had four vertebral fractures 9 years ago and lost 3/4 of an inch. I’m now only 5’4”. It’s fairly normal to lose some height as we age but that’s quite a bit for a brief period of time.

How y’all are/were you in cm? Do you know? That’s why I say short 5’10” or tall 5’09”. As an inch is 2.5 cm. With height too every bit counts 😂

Mi agree I agree it’s dramatic. I understand it, physiological changes due to ruptured discs and arthritis. But, it doesn’t make it easy to accept. It’s been on my mind 24/7. Also, I had a roller derby accident in 2008 and I fractured my pelvis.

Technician said “actually a little under” 5’8. So, blonde, we have to assume on the lower end. 🙄

The opposite has happened to me: after a few sessions of gpr, I'm 2cm taller than I was

Ahhh gotcha. I used to do Rolfing back in the 2000s. Same thing?

So I'm thinking that since the spinal discs compress with age and cause diminishing height, what is one's true height? I think your bone structure is still for a 5'10" person and I agree you should continue to consider yourself that height.

Did you measure at the same doctor? They don't have to be correct. I have gotten 3 different height measures from 3 offices of the last several weeks. At one, I had grown an inch! So I am with you. you are 5'10" !
