Absolutely, but when I stop tracking I gain. The struggle is real, everyday, every meal.

The portion plates have been around for several years now— they are desperate to use any helpful gimmick that they can to get people to think about the volume of food they are putting on their plates. It is a terrific tool to attempt to teach kids what a portion truly is. We have a monster generational problem.

I track not only the big 3 macros that is everyone’s primary concern but also about 8-10 micro nutrients that are so crucial to the function of your body for long term damage control. I’ve been doing this since 2004. As good as I am at guesstimating, once in a while I’m amazed how far off I am.

I've tried livestrong web site twice and it worked but guess what....as soon as I stopped UP I WENT. FS is fun and you can even rant safely here. I 💪❤️ FS. I will be a "Life Counter" if it means health for life. it's just too important. ✌️

I used to watch my checkbook now I watch my calories too. Your body is a bank account. You need to watch money going in and money going out. Real simple.

agree this is just way to important to be dreadful to me. To me it’s part of my lifestyle, maybe not the counting but the portion control is definitely a lifelong commitment

When you find a guaranteed way of reaching your goal, you should stick with it. The small annoyance of having to log is nothing in comparison to the benefits. @I am Thor's comment is spot on and we should care more about our health than our money.

Oh no never go back. 👎 I know what to do to maintain, as long as I have the control of feeding myself I’m not letting go of my new ways.
The simple fact of being able to chase my kids around it’s a reward on its own

@rosio19 no when I hit a stall, I follow the plan - go back to induction week and it starts going again. I have never counted calories or weighed anything.

if you can learn to eat in proper portions and avoid the foods that you KNOW will cause you to gain weight or eat out of control then you can eventually avoid tracking. many people can not do this for ages without the help of tracking everything they put in their mouth. If you truly wish to lose weight and keep it off, you need to embrace the new way you need to eat to get there and stay there.

Counting sucks, but for me it works. Boo!

I hate it as well. However that is the thing that works for me. I was 2 pounds from goal weight in January. That was 18 pounds ago when I got so excited that I stopped logging ànd weighing. The rest is history that I do not want to repeat. So my short answer is yes, you want to keep it up, uses you can memorize portions and only eat food your body likes. All the best.

I'm going to stick with counting. It's my substitute for taking meds so it's way cheaper.

If you fast, congratulations 🎉 what you achieve by doing so is a HUGE calorie deficit. Congratulations 🎉 I could never achieve fast, my body would take it as starving myself.
