Is anyone on this site on a diet other than KETO? I'm doing 1200 calorie diet since May 5th and have lost 22 lbs. while 22 lbs. is good at times seems slow. I tried Keto years ago but couldn't get my body to go into Ketosis. I am an insulin diabetic, so not sure if that was why and not sure is Keto diet would be safe for me. Any thoughts?

Honestly, 1200 is less than my 7yo eats. Try to increase your intake. The body cannot continue to burn fat if eating so low for so long. It goes into starvation mode and you actually plateau. You can’t constantly be in a calorie deficit simply bc science says so. That’s the easiest way to explain it. Try looking into eattoperform.com and read up on adrenal fatigue and the issue with being in a massive calorie deficit for extended periods of time. I'm not keto at all. I guess I'm CICO -- calories in, calories out. I try to maintain at least a 500 calorie deficit every day. You're welcome to take a look at my meals and "exercise" -- yes, I count my desk work! I call my WOE "The Shut Your Big Fat Mouth" diet. I'm doing my best to stay under 1600 calories a day (I can mostly do that) and try not to go lower than 1300. If I do, I wake up with a raging headache, so if I just haven't eaten enough calories during the day (like I went insane and just had salad or something), I always make sure to have a late snack before bed. I never ever though there'd be a day when I wouldn't *want* to eat more, but some days are like that!

there are many paths up the mountain... and many methods.. I cycle keto..with paleo... and find that keto will rip the weight off... and paleo can maintain it.. after keto.. I have found that I still stay relatively low carb compared to the national average.... I view keto as a primary tool... maintainence is a whole other thing..whereby... it is a combination of calorie imput and energy expended... but regardless of diet..I rarely go over 1500 cals a day...

Yep! SoCalPam you are right if I gathered your info right. After we monitor intake we get to the point where we know what works for us to lose weight. That’s what I’m doing and still learning. Body seems to fight and change against what I’m trying to do!

No matter the diet, it all comes down to eating in a caloric deficit. the only people that succeed at fat loss are the ones eating in a caloric deficit 😉

I did keto wrong for over a year and never got into ketosis, so I would tend to think you were not getting your macro's correct if you did not get into ketosis. I did two things wrong, I ate way too much protein and did not reduce my calories. I never got a reading on the test stipes. now I am always in ketosis. so if you decide to try keto again, I would suggest you read up on the diet, as it is a lifestyle as well. I will more than likely do a combo of keto and paleo for maintenance. though I may just stick with keto

and do a good evaluation on the keto calculator. https://keto-calculator.ankerl.com/

I would consult with your physician about a keto diet. Ketones in the urine are not good for a diabetic.

I’m on 1000 cals a day have been since January my weight loss is slow but that suits me, Im not starving, I walk a couple of times a week. Sometimes I may go to about 1200 cals. I don’t go without what I want to eat but my portions are a lot smaller.

I'm doing 1200, too. I actually find it difficult to eat that many calories so never manage to go over. 22 pounds in a little over 2 months is good progress. Perhaps your expectations were just set too high.

I eat 1400 per day and have lost over 100 las in about a year. I'm 5'9 down , today , to 102.2, bounce between 102 and 104. Actually have been in maint. for a long while. I count calories and fat grams. 10 fat grams per day, of course sometimes go over but doesn't affect much. You get used to eating this way and now it's a lifestyle . My husband says I'm too skinny but I love it!

I started a fast on Sunday. I take bone broth to maintain electrolytes but it's only about 50 calories, and not everyday. I suppose I'm technically I'm ketosis, but it's not the ketogenic diet. I am not a doctor, but I've read that ketosis can reverse type ii diabetes and many auto immune diseases caused by inflammation. See writing of Dr Jason Fung, and the you tube channel What I've Learned for his videos on fasting. The best part of fasting IMO is autophagy, or the destruction of dead and unhealthy cells. I think it's this process that has associated fasting with reducing tumors and cancer remission. Again, not a doc, so read up if you're interested. I've lost 11 lbs so far (much of which is water) but expect 1-2 lbs per day until breakfast. I'm shooting for 500 hours, but I'm told that hunger goes away after three days, and will return when your body needs food. If that happens, I'll break fast early.

I’m on Weight Watchers freestyle program. I’ve lost 31 pounds since January. I have 29 more to go. I’m a slow loser but I really enjoy the program. Endorsement from my cardiologist yesterday. I just got out of ICU. Had a small problem with A-fib. Was taken off one of my medication. Feel good now.
