I tried the Keto for almost 6 weeks and just couldn't stay out of the bathroom to put it bluntly. I kept track of my macros and kept trying to adjust, but just think my body couldn't handle the fat. You still have to keep track of calories, it's not unlimited. Currently, I'm just trying to eat healthy, watch carb and calorie intake and daily exercise. No processed foods. Good luck, I hope the diet agrees with you.

1.carbs under 20 net/day 2. add fat-should be twice protein 3. only eat when hungry. That's it in a nutshell. I see complaints about lack of variety, but I consider it a plus! Instead of having 3 French fries, I know I have none. Instead of measuring out 2 oz pasta, I don't have any. Dinner is bacon wrapped Italian sausage, sauerkraut, and a salad with olive oil. (no croutons!). I won't be able to eat it all.......

My doctor just put me on a keto diet. It says 75% of your diet should be healthy fats, oils and non-starchy vegetables. 20% is protein, 5% is carbs.

Hi! I recently switched to Keto because of more food options. I have a ton of energy and feels great. Plus weight loss.

Find a swimming pool that has aqua aerobics. Swimming or even just movement in the pool is fantastic. Works all the muscle and joints using water as your resistance.

do you want to lose weight?

I started in late April, I am down from 208 to 192. My cholesterol is down 131 from 174 (triglycerides were 84), my glucose is down from 111 to 84. For me the weight loss is important, but I have other issues I would like to fix, so it has been promising for me. I definitely recommend it!

Since March, I'm down 33# on Keto and my blood glucose is down from high 200's to below low 90's. One big trick, no matter what diet you choose, is to LOG EVERY BITE YOU TAKE. We have an amazing ability to lie to ourselves about our consumption. If you start logging everything, you will get a realistic view of your intake and can figure out from there where you might be derailing yourself from healthy eating. You'll find a lot of Keto advocates on this site, and a lot of CICO advocates (calories in/calories out), and a whole host of others, but mostly what you find is people who have found what works for them and they are excited to share. We all hope you find your path and share you success!

It can be effective but it has some draw backs. Talk to your doctor before doing it.

I recommend the whole food plant based diet instead! Increases your energy levels and you can eat more volume 🌱

My doctor's advise is not to watch weight. HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose level(s) are what matter most. That said, adopting what I call the "Fuhrman Diet Principles" as of June 15th, I've watched the weight come off each and every day. Dr. Furhman's Youtube videos speaking about the AMERICAN DIET that is absolutely frightening. I'm averaging about 1300 calories per day. And because of the quality of food I'm preparing for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the "desire to eat" simply evaporated. Even the so-called energy bars (including those very basic bars) are a thing of the past for me as is the all-day grazing.

To clarify...the desire to eat is purely emotional and overrides the body's natural alert system that indicates a need to eat. I'm learning to differentiate the two ... and it's not easy. Enough said.

dietdoctor.com Is one of the best sources on keto you can find. I lost over 250 pounds in less than a year following a dietdoctor/Dr. Jason Fung influenced protocol. There are no drawbacks to keto as far as I'm concerned.

I didn't feel good on that diet. I eat whole food plant based and it's how I feel best. I still have to track otherwise I tend to eat too much rice and potatoes and skimp on the veggies and fruit. As long as I eat veggies with lunch and dinner and for snacks and fruit with breakfast, and eat enough, I'm not hungry and my cravings are pretty well controlled. Regular exercise also helps reduce cravings and keeps my appetite normal.

I have had great success with Keto, and I feel great, but you have to do what works for you. Try it out, see if it is something you could follow, and decide from there!!

I started April 28th, 2018 @ 283.6 lbs. I was taking 26 units of Humalog 3x a day, 12 units of Lantus at bedtime, 1000mg of Metformin morning and at bedtime. At present I weigh 262.1 and off ALL the diabetic medicines! I feel awesome and my energy level has greatly improved! I don't go nuts on this way of eating, but I stay pretty close by just cutting the white stuff.
