Rorio19, I so agree, taking responsibility for our own body is empowering, playing the victim gets you no where.

Phil, does that make us who understand the intended harm of ads, and can withstand the attacks of advertisement psychologically stronger than most?

Not really because even the self-aware are vulnerable to manipulation, particularly if it's in the form of reinforcing existing biases.

Yes definitely. But also I think the excess of production is overwhelming. Brands, flavors, styles and now export of products. Marshall's has a section of international junk food. So curiosity killed the cat. And most definitely the concentration of salt spices and sugars. Besides who doesnt like potatoes, nuts and fruit jam?but you are right. We have the power to not buy those products. But then you feel like you are missing something, something really special. Well.... That is stupid.

Also, people have lost the skill of cooking where you control the ingredients, flavors, etc. Just two to three homecooked meals with portion control helps tremendously plus save much bucks.....

First of all, congratulations on your progress! That’s pretty awesome. I think that people who’ve had the discipline to lose the weight deserve credit that it was them, not the food that made all those hard decisions. But I also feel like there are environments that we are in, whether we put ourselves there intentionally or not, that can make it easier or harder to to stay at a healthy weight. I’ve known several foreign exchange students, who, when they came to the US, were all thin. By year’s end, they were all overweight. That was really interesting to me, to realize that maybe they were not prepared for the change in environment (whether it be type of food/access to it/less walking to places). But I don’t think they all of the sudden became lazy and undisciplined. A lot of people do make perpetually bad food decisions, but I really believe certain environments are also more conducive to making healthy decisions.
I know my perspective isn’t the whole picture, though.

true, and look at the portions sizes in the restaurants, back in the 60's the pates were the 7"-9" plates, and now food is served on a serving platter.
