We’ve been ‘fighting’ with family lately. That is if you can call passive aggressive going over our heads, calling our kids school for info etc ‘fighting’. It’s going to come to a head soon as they’ve brought our kids into it (3,9&12) and that brings out mama bear faster than anything.

With this added stress on top of depression, healing from surgery and year end stuff at school I’ve been starving. Nothing I eat fills me up except bread. Even the snickers I had didn’t hold me for long. Today I realized that my diet is becoming a lifestyle change. I’ll go back to junk food but in moderation. Today I wanted sweet, salty, carbs and something filling. Instead of heading for a frozen pizza or the like, I had two turkey sandwiches with low cal cheese and low cal wheat bread. I threw in one serving of chips for the salty and coffee with Splenda for sweet. It worked! Where a few months ago I’d have had 1000-1500 calories of junk to be satisfied, tonight it took around 600 calories of sandwiches and chips! Yes I ate two lol. Rarely do but I needed a big meal. And now I want some veggies which is a huge change for me! I ate very few veggies until recently and I’m still picky but I find I crave broccoli of all things.

Sounds like good progress! Sorry about the family situation and other challenges, but you are becoming more aware and that is a big deal!

Keep it up, things do get easier over time. Try new things as your tastes change, and the eating of a big meal (it happens every so often) but make sure to keep it in check. Think perhaps some of that may have been stress kicking up a notch or two and causing stress eating habit. Exercise caution, as you don't want this to become a habit.

I am sorry you are going thru so much. I hope you have a great day today. Don't let the family drama derail you, even if it is very upsetting. You deserve your own kindness. <3 All changes are a great!

Thank you all! It’s been a trial as this stuff has been going on for about 2 years now and off and on before that. Kids are old enough to say we need a change and just want to be left alone. My eating habits have suffered this week because of stress but normally I would 1) eat nothing because I’d be too worked up or 2) eat everything in sight so I keep busy and not worry and stress. I’m trying to find a compromise in there using healthier foods rather than snack cakes, pizza, fast food, candy etc. It was so much easier at first when I just limited my food to half what I usually ate. Now I’m trying to be mindful of the foods I eat too. Usually it’s a turkey or tuna sandwich rather than nachos (another go to food for me as I love cheese). I miss the ‘full’ feeling but I have to over eat quite a bit to get that feeling. Sandwich les are as close as I can come to feeling full lol.

@wright I usually have a ‘big’ meal at dinner but now my big meal is usually something like 2 bowls of soup and 5 crackers rather than a huge loaded baked potato with regular coke followed by candy lol. I almost couldn’t finish the last sandwich. I made myself only because I had 4-5 hours until bed and would give up one of my snacks. I’ve been a snacker all my life and can’t break the habit. Now I earn the snacks and they have to be 100 calories or less unless it’s a handful of nuts. But yes it was stress eating at its finest lol. Today I was tempted to order a ton at sonic but settled for a corn dog and cheese sticks. Not the best but better than the 6 cheese sticks, small burger, chicken strips and tots I wanted to order! Thanks for helping me keep my goals in sight. I actually read these comments while waiting to order and these changes my mind so I could decide to order a lighter meal if not a healthier one.
