Thank you again for all of your thought and support! I appreciate them more than you know.

So, I did a lot of thinking last night about this journey I am on and came to a realization.

The "Circle of Life" is the conclusion I came up with.

When I started this journey a couple of weeks ago, my primary goal was to get off my diabetes medication. I abruptly stopped two of them and was nearly off a third. I did it quickly, changed my diet to regulate blood sugar and was totally amazed at how easy it was. I realized last night that it wasn't that easy. It had some consequences I didn't anticipate in that somewhere in the mix I forgot to consider panic/anxiety!

Everything in our bodies is connected...it's a circle. When you change one thing your body is used to, it can make other things pop up. For example, if you eliminate one thing from your life, your body has to adjust. Some times it takes a bit for it to catch up with your enthusiasm and choices.

I got in a hurry. I changed too many things too quickly without giving my body a chance to adjust. I am so very sensitive to the changes in how I feel from one hour to the next, that I started making excuses to myself for the anxiety feelings that came from those changes until they got out of hand and caused my panic attacks to start again.

I now realize that this journey isn't JUST about getting off meds. It isn't JUST about losing weight. It is all about the CIRCLE inside me. It's all about TOTAL WELLNESS! When you change too many things at once, it is hard to know what change caused what to happen.

The conclusion I reached last night is to slow down with changes. My eating habits have changed and I won't go back to the way I ate before. I'm off two out of four meds and won't go back to taking them. But, what I need to do is balance out the changes I've made. Fine tune them and let it all settle before jumping on another one.

Once things stabilize, then it's time for another small change. For right now, I'm going to let my body adjust to the changes I've made without rushing into another one. I'm going to remember the "Circle" and work from that point of view from now on.

I'm glad you have rethought some of your changes. I knew at 365 I had to lose weight to get healthy and I knew that is was for the rest of my life, so I was in no hurry. In the last 9 years I have lost 165 pounds.....9 YEARS. I have come off insulin, blood pressure meds, statins and blood thinners. I am still on one diabetic oral med as I don't want to go back to more, and I in no hurry to make other changes as I feel great and have good energy and had no illnesses in those 9 years. I still have about 45-50 pounds to lose but I am slowly chipping away at it and in 9 years, though I have yo-yo'd I have never gained it back.....that is success. Balance things out and don't be in a rush!

You said it... it’s ”TOTAL WELLNESS”. As a fitness trainer, I tell my clients all of the time...you didn’t become overweight; get diabetes; have high cholesterol... (examples) overnight. It took a long time to become unhealthily. Therefore, getting to your goals, whatever they may be...may take a while. So, continue to slow down a bit and you WILL succeed. Sound like you’ve got this now!

Tachatna, finding a balance is what it is all about. Here is a nice goal for you: Try to find natural foods versus processed foods. ie. Fresh vegetables vs canned. Chicken vs bologna. Pickles vs relish. Fresh salads vs macaroni salads. Lean Ham vs hamburger. NOTE: When baking chicken, Vicky and I found this great item on amazon (Chef's Star Premium Copper Crisper Air Fry Pan) that allows us to bake chicken and other foods and allow all fats to drip off the foods while baking. Makes the food much healthier and lower can. Tried using it with tatar tots and wow is all I can say. Make chicken thighs, with skins ( 35 minutes@350 and then 15 minutes on broil at 450) that we crispened up at the end of the baking cycle. wow.

Is your doctor involved in these decisions? Dietician?

What an incredible realization - one that many of us do not make in our lives at all. You have insight and that will carry you through. You have given me much to think about my own journey. I have not really started my weight loss but have managed to loose 3 pounds and my head is really getting focused for my 30 pound loss. I have found some delicious things to make and I rarely eat out - my food is better. Will share with everyone later and just know you have given me something special.
