Chris1979's Journal, 02 February 2010

Another nice little drop on the scale. My friend Debbie is so right. She said "drink a lot of water and the pounds will melt off of you". So far, so good! Granted I'd love to go to bed tonight at 144 and wake up at 132 but I know I have to be PATIENT and if I keep doing what I'm doing I'll meet my goal before I know it.

I'm doing another "low day" today. Eating throughout the day, snacking, but on low calorie healthy foods. I have an apple, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, a clementine, 2 slices of WW bread, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, and a light Laughing Cow wedge. I really want to see the scale say 142 on Friday. If I can get to that, I will have matched the lowest weight I've ever recorded at FS. On a more depressing note, that means I will basically be just back to a starting point. Finally lost all the weight I'd GAINED when I stopped checking in at FS last time.

Now I have a serious question to ask of my FS friends. A dear sorority sister of mine, who is my age, has Stage 4 lung cancer. She's going through chemo. My question is, does anyone know of a place where I can donate my hair specifically to HER? I know there are sites for children like that (i.e. Locks of Love) but I can't find one for adults. She is so depressed. I'd love to help her in some way b/c she's having a tough time with the idea that in a few weeks all her hair will be gone. :(

THREE THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR TODAY:
1) My health
2) A boss free work day
3) My job-- I'm so thankful to have it!

Wishing everyone a very productive Tuesday. :)

Add on: this is more for my own record but I just checked an old site I used to weigh in at several years ago. It's crazy how much my weight has fluctuated. Here are some of the highlights:
1) 2002: 112 (waaayyy too skinny)
2) 2003: 121
3) 2004: 126
4) 2005: 130
5) 2006: 136
6) 2007: 150
7) 2008: 132 (first time I did South Beach)
8) 2009: 157 (gained it all back)
9) 2010: 144 (current weight)
144.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.
losing 1.8 lb a week

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. Its wonderful that you want to donate your hair to her, and if you do go through with it, maybe you can contact a wig maker / store? When my mother went through it, we went to the wig store, and the owner told us that the ones with real hair look more "wiggie" than the fake ones, so that is something to keep in mind. We went to a store in (I think) Marlboro, NJ and it specialized in wigs for cancer patients only. On a happier note - great job on the loss!

So sorry about your friend. Very sad. Congrats on you though. Chris you are doing so great. So now you're back where you were but if you keep up what you are doing and stick with us here you will reach your goal. Keep up all the hard work. It will pay off.

Hmmm.... that is good to know MOTG. I just figured real wigs were super expensive and maybe it would be cheaper if she had the hair donated. Thanks for the info! Thanks Cathy... I need to spend more time with Slim in 6 I fell off the wagon.

Your friend is fortunate to have caring others in her life ... I wish I had some input about the hair but I don't. I will keep her in my thoughts ... cancer is such a bummer. I too would LOVE to wake up tomorrow and suddenly find a new improved weight (175 would be my preferred number) on my scale!!! LOL!!! I drink so much water it is insane and yet lbs. are not melting off ... I'm glad yours are!!!!

hey new buddy! are u doing the Wendie Plan off of WW? just asking cause i see ur doing a "low" day. also, I see ur not too far from me! :) it's nice to find some locals! most of my "buddies" are all over the place. i'm sorry to hear about ur friend. my mom was going through her chemo last year, and i never heard of a place taking someone's hair for their friend or family...she got her with through a specialized place with her insurance. sorry i can't help. :(

Oh insurance will cover that for her? Okay awesome! I just thought she was going to have to wear hats and wanted to help her since I knew they did that for kids, make them special hair pieces. Would have been a good reason for finally cutting my hair off! :) Thanks for adding me. I got the "low" day idea from Information on here. He does it so I copied him. Other than that I'm just doing normal WW.

Good job Chris, I started out with a low day but, it isn't all that low anymore. I'm starving at the moment (not sure exactly why, probably pastry related) and just getting my Fatsecret fix. :-)
