jsfantome's Journal, 19 September 2011

Well, sure hope you didn't screw up your weekend. I didn't. My 'food' weekend went great. If you don't preplan your meals before you go grocery shopping, be sure to have some kind of meat or protein available for lunch/dinner...plus a salad and a veggie... and the rest should fall into place. You can always be more creative when you have time to pre-plan, but if you're short on time, or running hard over the weekend...you can always grab a couple staples and make it work.

The best part of my weekend, was PEOPLE. I enjoyed my family this weekend, the wonderful weather, and the activities I was able to fit in.

Going to check out my health plan options today regarding Gym Membership Reimbursements... Middle son and I are looking at changing from Planet Fitness, to one that has more 'additional' interests. Classes, a Pool, Basketball court, etc.

Will keep you posted.

I have been keeping up w/ the Slim in 6 but am bored out of my mind. Which is how the above conversation came up w/ the middle son. I would really enjoy a place with more variety, so I could mix it up on a continuable basis. It is so darn frustrating to get so bored all the time. The things I like to do, like swimming, climbing, playing HORSE on a B-ball court, riding bikes, taking a class now and then... none of that is available at Pf. I don't mind lifting weights, but get bored. I don't mind doing the Cardio, but get bored. So if I could swap it up w/ stuff once in a while, Yeah! We'll see...

Have a great day. Have a Great Week! Plan for your success this week!!!

Nice to hear your weekend went well. Good luck on your exercise plan - maybe you should just start your own gym.

I stayed right on plan this weekend, but not by willpower, but screwed up sleeping patterns. Too busy sleeping to eat! My exercise varies to three different things. Swimming, Eliptical and Weight lifting. I use my MP3 player to keep from getting bored. As long as I have good music to exercise to, boredom isn't a factor for me.

Icy -I love to exercise to music. That has been my only saving grace :) And Buffy - you know I have thought of that!!! LOL! if this economy didn't stink so bad I might even have gone beyond thinking by now.

I would love to own my own gym! I am like Icy, music is what keeps me from getting bored, but I also know that wednesdays are swimming, thursdays are Zumba/Yoga so things get switched up for me. Finding a gym that allowes you the oppertunity to switch things up may be perfect for you! I don't do home DVD's simply because I get bored and will always choose to not do it.

Variety is the spice of Excercise Life! I get so bored too, doing the same over & over. I am looking for ideas & exploring options today too. Pilates came to mind (low impact for my foot), breifly thought about weight training, but when I did Curves I was OK in the beginning, but towards the end I was mind numbingly bored.

I would love to go to a real beginners Zumba class and a real beginners boxing or matial arts class. SOmething for old out of shape people that would allow me to start without feeling behind everyone and progress at a good pace. Too bad there is nothing like that in my small town. This morning, I did my Wii step thing a couple of times. It is fine but too easy and way too short. Gonna have to figure something out as I am certain now is the time i need to start with the exercize. Just gotta do it. My tush is way to flat and hanging down :) Weight is pretty much off - now it is time to tone and condition :)

Elizabeth... look for a Zumba Gold class in your area. It is the beginner Zumba class that is made for newbies and older people. It is a modified Zumba class that offers all kinds of different things, you still get the fitness but the steps are explained and its a bit slower if you want it to be or faster if you want it to be.. Its what I go to every thursday.

If you can find a Zumba class in your area...you can always ask the Instructor about the type of beginner class you've described! I know the lady in our town was MORE THAN THRILLED when I asked if there was a 'basics' class I could take once or twice a week for a month or so...to kind of ease my way into learning the moves, steps, etc. I don't own the DVD's or anything, and it all went WAY to fast for me. I felt like a total fish out of water! Well, Lo and Behold, they have an intro for BEGINNERS starting 2 nights a week at the Town Library! Yeah! Just sometimes have to plant the seeds... You could always inquire where there is boxing or martial arts classes too...perhaps they were just thinking of starting something like that this Fall...but they are trying to figure out if there is a NEED for this! You could be their inspiration :)

LA Fitness is where I go. It has a wide variety of options. I don't know if there is a branch in your area. Gold's Gym also seems to be pretty good.

Paula, I just relpied to your post on my journal re: neuroma. BTW, I loved the Zumba class we used to have near my house, but the instructor moved & her replacement, didn't hold a candle to her, so I stopped going. Now the only classes I can find just don't work for my time table. (Big bummer)

Good to know there's a beginners' version of Zumba, if one can find it.

Just to add to Paula, always ask the instructor if you do not understand a move or routine, they will usually have no problem showing you how to do it. Also the girl that runs my class is always stressing - do what feels right and if you get lost just march on the spot until you can catch up, as long as you are moving in the same direction as the class there shouldn't be any problems. AND keep an open mind, and laugh at yourself! Zumba can be a whole lot of fun even if you are an uncoordinated white kid (like me lol) I have tripped over myself, fallen down, looked like an idot but so does everyone else in the class.

Paula, 'PEOPLE' are the best part of our lives aren't they? Glad you enjoyed your weekend. I live in a small town, no gym or Curves unless I want to drive an hr ea way. I have learned to love my Wii!

Paula, Boredom is a big part of me too, but that is life need lots of stimulation, different things to do change it up, no harm in that. It is hard to find a place to go and work out I don't mind working out at home with all the different games you can get now. Best of luck and glad you had a great weekend with your wonderful family. Yes planning ahead with food is really the only way to go. {{HUGS}}
