Goal Weight

Still to go: 19.0 lb
Married 20 years. Have had weight loss and gain since I was 20. First real diet I tried was after my hubby had proposed. I didn't want to be a fat bride, and I was about 200. In a year, I had dropped 50-60 lbs by switching from Dr. Pepper to water, and walking 25 minutes five times a week. At 20 weight loss was easier.

About age 30 I Had gained it all back. So this time I tried Atkins. I was again 200lbs before realizing that I had to do something. I feel bloated and uncomfortable at 200. Like my fat is strangling me. Anyway I stayed on it for 7 months, losing 70lbs.

Again at age 40 went the Atkins route, and lost, but again gained back.

Update: I will be 46 in a few months and been fighting this battle of the bulge for a quarter of a century. Wow. It's a never ending battle for some of us. Going the calorie deficit way this time, as low carb is just not sustainable in the long term for me.

Need a friend! I have so many questions
I hear ya wrestling about the motivation. All i got from hubby (no matter when i was 195 or now at 135) you look fine. So while it's nice to have that unconditional love, it's not exactly helping you with your current desire. Motivation is a funny thing. For some people it has to be internal or it will never work. That's me, I could have my doctor and my friends and everyone under the sun tell me I need to lose weight, but it didn't do any good cause I wasn't ready to face the battle. I didn't want it bad enough. Others seem to do fine with motivation from others and little of their own motivation. They come here and ask their buddies to watch them, kick em in the butt if they notice them slipping. All I know is nobody but me is going to make me exercise at 630 in the morning. Wrestling you are probably better off that you cannot tolerate the sugar free items, once you get over your initial cravings you should be good. For me, if sugar free chocolates didn't exist, I'm not sure I could have stuck to this WOE as long as I have.

No problem mygoal. Everyone here is on a learning curve, some are just beginning, while others have been learning for awhile. Let me tell you though, even after 9 months I'm still learning.

Mygoal, some people have issues with sugar free items, some do not. You are allowed to have them, but no more than 3 per day but if you find you are not losing weight or stall, ditch the artificial stuff first when you tweek your plan. The site automatically tracks fat and calories, I suppose you could edit your setting to not show these things, but on Atkins it is helpful to see if you are eating correctly. Down at the bottom of your food log is a pie chart. You should be looking to hit 10 percent carbs, 60-70 percent fat and 20-30 percent protein. If you don't eat enough fat you may be hungry or may not lose fast because your body might assume you are starving. You don't need to count those items, but being aware of them helps you figure out what works and what doesn't work.

I've never taken vitamins or suppliments on Atkins, but I'm in the minority. I have issues with pills so I prefer my vitamins come from food.
