O Diana that is heartbreaking. Poor girl something unforgivable must have happened to her. God bless Joe for being so wonderful with her and you for, well, just being you she loved you. Is she still afraid of strangers to herself?

YOH, Continued.. We couldn't have company over for the 1st year we had he. Eventually we got her to where if we took her out front to meet the person she would allow them in the house..( most of time) She follows me everywhere. She also doesn't lick. No kisses. She has parrot mouth which ch means her lower jaw doesn't align with her upper jaw. When she eats, the food falls from her mouth and she has to stick her snout in her water bowl to get water. Sorry so long...just giving you backstory💜💜

My boys, partially due to being covid puppies so socialization got missed, are so crazy when someone comes over. They are so excited they cant be still. My big boy will stand on his hind legs trying to hug and the little guy dances around whomever. Stranger or family they do not differentiate. Then my big boy will run and grab one of his babies to show whomever in typical golden retriever fashion. I have tried and tried to get them to be calm. Every other dog i have ever had and i would have to think about it but i think around 7 before them in my adulthood has had good manners. Definitely makes a difference. Although all but one or two were collies (one sheltie) so maybe difference in breeds.

YOH, didn’t realize you got dogs during Covid. They are sure cute! Socializing is so important and it does make a huge difference to their everyday interactions with people. You take them on your long walks, right? How do they do outside? How is your MIL doing? It’s so hard to loose our babies!💜💜

Yes, i have never been more than a few months without a fluffy dog, cat, horse, prairie dog (ive had all of those but always always a dog). I lost my last collie six years ago and he was ill for 3 years prior to passing and the grief was so so overwhelming in addition to the 12-18 hour days i worked and hubs on second shift it just didn’t seem fair to add to our family. Thennnnnn i came up with the idea of hiring a babysitter for them 3-4 hours a day so they would only ever be alone for a few hours at a time (at the time we wanted an only child like Sydney). So i found our baby and the babysitter in the same week and then accidentally added our little man a year later with the same babysitter caring for both. My MIL is grieving. Her house feels as empty again as it did after my FIL passed away. Little Keira made that house feel like a home again with her energy and fun personality and sweetness. Im not getting involved again if MIL decides to get another furry baby. I feel so responsible for what happened even tho it was genetic. We all agree Keira would have been destroyed with most families because of the situation and the $$$ to keep her alive so it was meant for her to be within our family but i still feel guilty. Gosh, i am so long winded.

Diana, I hope Sydney's diagnosis is something easily fixed with meds or food change. It's awful when our babies are not well.
