Evie1010's Journal, 11 April 2011

update on Jim -- Please keep praying for him... The antibiotics seem to be helping, but his condition worsened with the onset of a severe gout attack in the injured knee and his ankle due to the trauma of the injury and infection. The pain is excruciating - he's really having a tough time with it.

He has chills on and off -- the leg looked very angry-red and swollen today after he tried to make a couple of errands.

Your continued prayers are greatly appreciated. <><

an infection and gout... that is horrible. My brother (who is 23) has gout so I am fully aware of how painful those attacks can be from watching him. I really hope he starts feeling a ton better soon. Will keep you guys in my thoughts and sending tons of positive vibes out into the universe for you!

Evie, I am still praying, and will continue to do so....my hubby has gout and that in and of itself can be so excrutiating, and combining it with an injury, I can only imagine the amount of pain he must be in. Don't forget to take care of yourself, Evie...taking care of others can be very draining.

@Stef and Pixi, seeing your loved one suffers from gout I wanted to share a resource with you. My husband takes an herbal (all natural) supplement that keeps him gout-free... He rarely ever has an attack since using this supplement. (this current episode resulted solely from the trauma he endured) Check out goutcure.com for info. It's way better than any meds prescribed for the condition - and because it's all natural, there are no side effects whatsoever. It's been a lifesaver for Jim.

Evie, still praying and thinking of you and Jim....glad to hear the antibiotics are starting to kick in...but boy, sounds like he is really having a time of it...Keep your chin up...I am sure Jim will be on the mend and getting around in no time..he has one of the best "nurses" in town..! What are you doing up so Late/early....?

hi dear one... yeah, it sure is early. :/ I can't sleep. Been up since 3am - came into my office at 4:30 b/c lying there was doing me no good. I'm glad your up! It's nice to have some "company". Thanks for your prayers and well-wishes. I am sure things will be looking up as soon as the seizing gout goes away. It usually takes several days when he has a bad episode. I love ya Raven!

Love ya too, Evie...Hope you get a little rest later today...! I usually get up betwen 4 and 5, not by choice..just do, and once I am up, I am up! It is nice to have some company..though in the wee hours of the morning:) Poor Jim! Amazing how one little "freak" accident can snowball..Enjoy your beautiful weather...now that you are getting those Seasonal temps...!

Raven, yes, it is lovely! How is your hubby doing with his new job? Adjusting well and liking the new routine?

Thanks for asking...he is really liking it...as am I. He gets in on Sunday Mornings, and leaves out again on Tuesday Mornings...Right now...little bit of adjusting, since I have to pick him up when he comes in....In Tampa...2 hours away...Ugh. Funny you asked, as I was just sitting here, planning out next weekend...My husband suggested that when I pick him up next weekend..we should go visit our daughter who lives just outside of Tampa...and spend the day...I am looking forward to that. I was just looking up the Mass schedule for her church there...I have started going to Mass on Saturday Evenings, however, due to it being Palm Sunday....was trying to ensure that I would make a service...also, will be taking my Aunt up there with me...promised her I would take her to church...she will be excited, since she never gets to go...to my daughters.. She is in such great health for a woman of 86...still drives but only locally..:)

Keeping you and Jim in my prayers, my dear friend. Praying for your little dogter, Daisy, too....I know she must feel awful. Our dogs are so sensitive to these things, aren't they? I hope today is much better for you all. Love you!!

Thanks a million davidsmom, thersmith and Rhonda! Holding your kindness in my heart... Rhonda you are so right. When the infection was at its worst she could actually smell it. She would often go up to him and ginerly smell up and down his right leg and lick his knee where the impact of her noggin left a flesh wound. Sometimes she would (try to) paw at his knee as if to say "it'll be ok".

Hoping Jim is doing well and his leg is getting better and both of you are getting some rest. Take care of yourself while your taking care of everything else. Know that lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent from this site. Please keep us posted.
