@fritzy Followed by the first sundowners episode in a minute last night. Argh. Is there any reason we can't just give him a Valium or half a Xanax when that shit happens?

dang jimmie your killing this thing. and that sundowners is brutal man. had a guy back in 2006 or 7 every afternoon about 4pm. he'd flash back to the traveling salesman days and try to bust out of the facility. stay strong my friend.

there was an elderly female escape artist where my grandmother stayed for awhile, they ended up putting an ankle bracelet on her because she'd sneak out the service doors, out the windows, and even rush the front door. every single day. some days were more successful than others. hang in there.

Sounds like it’s time for an ankle GPS like Kat said. It’s hard to get family doctors to prescribe benzos lately. Hide your car key. His hometown is calling him. Or his old job. Something precious is still very intact in your old man, and I hope he’ll find a way to channel his longing. Hang in there.

@hebrews Something like that is what I was thinking. The kids are like "Hell No!" Too strong. Also reading that there is a dramatic increase in fall rate and hip fractures, which makes sense.

@kat LMAO. I was friends with the resident escape artist when my mom was in rehab a while back. Rehab was colocated with residential. She was always put together, dressed nicely, hair done, upbeat and conversationally engaging. It was hard to understand why she was even in there. Until she walked out the door with me!

@merm Appreciate your kind words. I know that feeling. That said, I'm not great or anything. I feel like I am just doing what we do. You take care of your own. Full stop. Probably a cultural thing. Pretty sure you know what I am talking about. And yes, the neighbors are terrific. I need to let them know that they are appreciated.

@fritzy Yep. Time to chip him. I had it all set up, but then he stopped going for a walk. Anyway he's manageable except for the sundowners bullshit, which is infrequent at this point. Or at least he's not acting out very often. He's got his car keys. Just no car. He doesn't even look for it or ask about it anymore.
