I’d like more information about the fasting I keep reading on here. I am skipping my first meal till 1:00pm. Is that considered fasting or do you have to go 24 or more hours? And does this help you to burn fat?

Fasting is what you want it to be. The skipping meals are usually called intermittent fasting (IF). You will have an eating window that may be anything between 1 hour or 8 hours or something. The low carb theory is that the body will settle in for fatburning since you are not engaging your insulin too often. The calorie people will argue that the only advantage is that it makes it easier to reduce the amount you eat. I used it with my keto weightloss. It works very well for me and I find it easy to do. It is not something you have to do though.

Hum. So only in theories. Well I’ll keep to what I’m doing. If nothing else, I’m eating less in one day and I’m killing the evening snack monster

metabolism is peak around 11 am, best time to eat that one meal is before 12pm. Apple cider vinegar help curb appetite when fasting. With that one meal dont count calories. I aim for 30 % carbs, 30 fat and 40% protein. i lost alot of weight doing this. Look on youtube about omad fasting if interested.

No, you don’t have to go 24 hours. It’s even counted as fasting overnight, from some of the posts I’ve read

Depends on if full fast or intermittent fasting. I do 16:8. This means nothing for 16 hours & eating must be in 8 hours. Coffee okay Some people fast long term & I don’t do that. Diabetic so would be quite unhealthy to. Your choice as always. 🍀

Sorry. The most I fast, nowadays, is while I sleep at night. I break the fasting w/BreakFAST in the morning when/after I've had my cup of JOe. :)

That is considered fasting. If you fast for 24 hours then that would be a different form of fasting than the 16:8.

You may want to consider doing your own research. Fasting can be a polarizing topic and misinformation abounds. I recommend Rich Rolls recent interview with Dr. Alan Goldfarb who has both run a fasting clinic for 30+ years and has a good handle on the relevant research. Good luck! That is so how I am losing all my weight. I just love it. I have what I want for lunch and then I just don’t eat late at night and that can count as your fasting hours till the next day. I use the apps Life and Zero. I like Zero the best. Yet, Life has a part where it shows you the hour you start burning fat. Both these apps you can decide how many hours you want to fast. Because you can eat what you want afterwards, most people aren’t hungry when they’re fasting, I’m not. Anyway, I like it. It works for me, you just have to find what works for you. Good luck with whatever you choose.👍🌺

I do intermittent fasting for both my weight and help with clarity of mind from the "autophagy" (google it) it causes, some say after 12 hours, some say 16 hours. I am 79 years old and concerned about my brain. One can start slow by just ending your evening eating at a certain time, and no snacks after that, then starting to eat perhaps a little later than you are used to. Then as you get used to it push your first meal back. If you've ever dieted you know that when you get hungry, if you wait a while it fades, until it comes back lol, then you again wait a while till it fades. If your eating contains many sweets and high carbs you will get hungrier. You can work up your fasting to whatever you decide to. I IF 15 to 18 hours every day. That gives me a 6 to 9 hour eating window every day and thats plenty for 2 meals. I believe it is very good for me. and it just depends on if I am trying to lose weight at the moment, as to how strict I am. Some people do not want to be strict so allow themselves about 50 calories during their fast like cream in their coffee. I do not break my fast, so only have water, tea, or black coffee. It was hard to give up the milk in my coffee for a long time, but I tell my husband he can have milk in his coffee after 12 noon. If you are waiting till 1pm to eat that is great! I believe 3 meals a day is unnecessary.
