I love to see before and after photos. When I get down in the dumps about myself, I'll often refer back to my old photos to remember my accomplishments. Rock it superstar!

I've been overweight pretty much my whole life. In the past, I had tried all kinds of fad diets and pills and shakes before and even though I lost weight, I always gained it back plus more. So this time I decided to try what my doctor always said to do, eat healthy and exercise. So I joined the gym in 2014, I was 280 pounds, and started counting calories and doing both cardio and a little lifting. My friend had a workout class called Healthy Beginnings for people who were extremely overweight and just starting out. After about 4 months I started doing a lot of workouts on my own. In 14 months I was down to 141 pounds. Along the way I became a fitness instructor. I teach general group fitness (we do circuit training workouts), Zumba, Zumba Toning, Pound (I no longer teach Pound) and Piloxing. Then I figured since I was working out so much I could relax on my eating habits....I was very mistaken. I stopped weighing myself and slid back into really bad eating and drinking habits. I was still working out a lot but was in total denial about what I was eating and drinking. In September of 2018 I finally stepped back in the scale and I had gained 60 pounds. I was back to 204. I cried for 10 minutes. I had worked so hard and I had sworn to never be over 200 pounds again. So I cleaned up my eating habits and I quit drinking. I eat a lot of lean proteins, like chicken, pork, lean ground beef and (once a week) salmon. I also eat a lot of fresh veggies. I started doing more lifting. My sister teaches Body Pump, and I joined her classes. I kept up with my cardio, because hey those are the bulk of the classes I teach. And in 9 months I was back to 145 pounds. I've had a lot of ups and downs. And I've learned a very valuable lesson about myself. While there are some people who can eat whatever they want and still work out and not gain weight, I'm not one of those. For me I have to be careful with what I eat and I have to do both cardio and strength-training. But most importantly I've learned that consistency is key, and determination will get you to your goals.

Good life story Letty. I have also gained some back after several years on maintenance and have been lax the past year and gained some back also drinking some beer so it's back to paying attention daily. N
