just a thought...

You did not put the weight on in a day therefore it will not come off in a day

This is not the divine intervention diet the fat will not magically disappear you have to make an effort and have some patience.

Phase 1 is NOT the main part of the diet. It is for curbing the cravings and has the side benefit of losing some water weight. If you weren't retaining before than its entirely possible AND normal to lose very little or nothing at all in phase 1. Not to worry that is what phase 2 is for.

If you are not significantly over-weight staying in phase 1 is not a benefit for you move on to phase 2

If you have a lousy attitude about this, your experience will be lousy.

Be realistic about your goals 30 pounds in 2 months for a special event is not realistic.

If you are following SB correctly you are NOT eating too much- people have been so brain washed into believing that losing weight must involve being hungry and sacrificing that eating properly seems like over eating, its not.

Your scale is NOT God please stop treating it like it holds the keys to happiness. If your losing inches and the scale isn't moving this is still a good thing.

To all the "I hate veggies" people you have to eat them on SB deal with it. Not eating properly is what got us here and with the 100s of varieties of veggies I'm sure you can find some you like, I did.

NO you do not have to eat eggs or drink V8 but you do have to find suitable substitutions.

YOU SHOULD NEVER BE HUNGRY ON SB. If your eating properly or think you are and your still hungry please post a complete day's menu including liquids we will help you figure it out.

It is entirely possible to eat all SB legal foods and not be on SB. In other words if you not following the plan just eating the foods it won't neccesarily work. You can still eat cottage cheese, meat and everything else and gain weight if your not following the plan. SB works because it balances the right carbs with the right fats evenly across the day.

PLEASE PLEASE read the book. If you don't know the basics you can't make your own decisions. Its like that old saying about if you give a hungry man fish he eats that day but teach him how to fish and he never goes hungry again. If you have the basics of how and why SB works then it won't matter where you go or if you eat out you'll be able to make good decisions on your own (maybe not the first couple days of phase 1 but relatively soon).

Remember in the end its you and your hard work that is going to get you where you need to be whether that is a healthier way of eating or losing unwanted weight. Good luck.

Phase 2 IS phase 1 with more options and the were the real weight lose takes place move on its not a scary place

Its is a fact of life men lose faster and more than women don't compare yourself to your boyfriend, husband, brother whatever

Don't compare yourself to someone else if you have 20 to lose and I have 200 I'm going to lose 20 faster than you but you will get to your goal faster

Height, weight, sex, disability and so forth do NOT determine how successfull you are YOU DO, if you really want it sooner or later you'll get it.

Please don't tell me your to busy. Everybody is busy. If you want it you make time no if ands or buts about it. If your seriously over-weight or unhealthy do you really want to have to find time for the hospital or the funeral home?

People always ask me how I stay motivated and I say because I'm sure death sucks

If you filled a tub with water and the tub had a faucet and a drain you could control the amount of water in the tub by regulating the amount of water coming in throught the faucet and going out hte drain.

Any diet( or change of eating ) works the same way. If you stop and go back to the way you used to eat you inevitably go back to what you used to weigh .... period ... this is with any diet ... including SB.

Dr. A's mantra of "good carbs, good fat and protein" is just another way of saying we should all try to eat a balanced diet. Let's fill up our system with nutritous food and leave the empty calories behind.

Some of this is copies and some of it is my thoughts. I needed to be reminded of some of the simple basics.

Applause and thanks! I keep thinking that I KNOW the SB diet, but lately I've felt like maybe I need to go back and read that phase 2 part again, because I think I didn't quite get it at first. And I would like permission now to use your motivational phrase, with credit to the author of course. You just can't put it more succinctly or eloquently than "I'm sure death sucks!"

AMEN, BRAVO! I used to get a little defensive when people thought I lost my weight too fast, but I followed the book to the "T" and only because I had such a high BMI and following my doctors advice I stayed on phase 1 for an additional week (except for that glass of red wine I had so well deserved by then). I also moved into phase 2 according to the books guidelines and I lost exactly what the book said to expect to lose, exactly. In fact 4thehalibut & I started on the exact same day and if you compare our weight loss, we were neck and neck all the way till I hit my goal and slowed. We both followed the book exactly the same and we both shared the exact same progress. In this case, I really LIKED "doing it by the book". Thanks for the reminder friend!

I'm with YOU; being DEAD sucks big icicles! LOL I have to say that you've got a firm grip on where you're headed and it's safe to say where you'll end up, too! But in my book, you'll always be an Isosceles; in that only 2 of the 3 sides are equal...which leaves one side that is ALWAYS different or wrong (depending on how you look at it!). See, in other words, you'd be perfect if it wasn't for the weight issue...2 outta 3 ain't bad!! sucks when I think too deeply, huh? LOL TRY and keep up!!

AMEN sister! It's great to hear your words of wisdom.. It is my 3rd week on SB and I too have been following the SB book to the T. It takes awhile to know how to eat, but as you say, once you get it, you can start making good decisions. I can only recall one time where my stomach actually growled. As a newbie, I appreciate your words of wisdom. Thanks for sharing!

Love the statements! It is good to go over this now and then, because it's so easy to stray and forget. "Death sucks" - SO TRUE!

What a fantastic reminder to us all - thank you so so much my friend. So many mantra's in one journal. Its true isin't it that if ya stick to the plan, really stick to it (not your version of same) then it will work, so it will, ya might need the patience of Job - but it will work.... as someone said a while back 'its a lifestyle - not a sentense" !!
