Less than 36 hours in to my "liquid diet" I have eaten food...Dentist said wait 3-5 days because of all the problems I had last time (when I didn't cheat) and I didn't even make it 3 days. I will go back to what I was told to do now but the damage has been done. Hopefully it won't cause me any problems. I just feel like I have no self-control...no willpower whatsoever...not even to save myself trouble! Wow! Just wow! I know that I can just move forward and do what I'm supposed to be doing but jeez! I am SMDH at my own self!

You're in a stressful and painful situation. Cut yourself some slack. You need to be your own BEST FRIEND! Would you say the things you said above to someone you really loved very much? Of course not! You'd be supportive, and understanding, and encouraging. Ok, so you blew it a little yesterday. Just try to do better today. You've GOT THIS, Katie!

I echo Debbie... don't get down on yourself over a couple of days - remember the any great days you got it right. Be kind to yourself. You've earned it.

Get the book The Change Your Biology Diet...great analysis of chemically, biologically, etc. what goes on inside us in the process of loosing weight. Written by an MD who specializes in weight loss. Extremely well written. He says there is no such thing as lack of will power, etc. Its about the chemical reactions inside of us and how to approach them. Great book

ps. He also has a couple of suggestions as to how to loose weight including an approach using protein shakes, and he rates the various options out there for carbs, calories, protein content, etc.

Some of the best will power comes from going to a store and trying on some new clothes. You don't have to buy just go and try on. If that doesn't kill your appetite nothing will. Plus just getting away from the temptation helps.

My personal opinion- willpower isn’t the problem. We weren’t designed to live on a liquid diet. For some people it might be OK but if your body is protesting that is because it isn’t giving your body what it needs.

"Can you talk about the common misconception that obese individuals are lazy vs. what the science shows – that genetic components play a factor in over eating and keeping weight off? This is critical. What people don't realize is that when you gain weight, signaling pathways in the brain are damaged and that makes it hard to lose weight. Scientific evidence is showing that when you gain weight by eating fattening food, something physical changes in your brain. The critical nerves in the brain that carry signals from the fat cells, stomach and intestine to the rest of the brain are injured and inflamed and don't function as well. As a result, the fidelity of the signaling getting to the rest of your brain is degraded, so your brain can't tell how much you've eaten and how much fat is stored. That's really what makes it so hard to lose weight." Wow! This really hits home for me. My doctor had started me down this road. I'm eating differently now due to an upcoming surgery but this is really interesting @gone51...I will definitely be looking into it! Liquid diet is just temporary to help my mouth heal so I will be off of it soon and hopefully I will have some money for protein powder again soon and that will definitely make things easier! I will also look into jessijeann on instagram. I don't have an account but apparently there is a lot of good stuff going on over there...I will just have to do it! :) Thanks for all the tips guys, I love reading your comments and really do find them helpful so keep 'em coming!

You may be upset with yourself, because you know you know better. You still should be kind to yourself. With your intelligence and compassion for yourself, you got this! Who best knows what strategies work on you than you.😊 You've got this.👍

Hang in there Katies71. You are stronger than you think. My trick is to plan ahead -prepare meals and snacks ahead of time. I'm not sure why you are fasting. If it's for medical reasons, disregard the following. If you're fasting for weight loss, start with shorter fasts. Have you heard of the 16/8 fast? Fasting for sixteen hours and only eating within the other 8 hours. That doesn't mean you can eat pizza and ice cream for 8 hours. Stick with your diet plan and only eat within the 8 hours time frame. There are tons of articles that you can read to help. It's different for every individual, so don't be hard on yourself. Be kind to yourself, thoughts and actions alike. Peace, Love and Prayers.

Thank you DS107...I'm only doing this to keep my mouth "clean". I had oral surgery and my last surgery went so badly I was supposed to be on clear liquids. Ha! On an up note it is healing a lot better than last time!!

For what it's worth, I wouldn't last a day on a liquid diet. So the fact that you lasted 36 hours is impressive. I do hope that you didn't do any damage, but, sheesh, asking you to not eat and only drink liquids for 3 to five days seems excessive.

We all fall. I should have reached goal 10xs over. Get mad at yourself then get right back on the wagon. This is your journey and no one can choose the path you travel except for you. I have faith in you because I have faith in myself. 🙋

I have faith in your ability to do this. You just have to find your own way. When I started I went to the store and bought things I actually like to eat that fit in with my WOE. Also I can do the 16/8 fast pretty easily since you sleep thru most of it

Don’t beat yourself up. Not eating food is not natural. It’s torture in a lot of ways (((hugs))) hang in there.
