LSG417's Journal, 19 June 2018

After reading a few journals on here, I consider myself to be quite blessed when it comes to my husband supporting me and the lifestyle changes I've been making. He may not always like what I fix, I pretty much cook for myself and if the guys don't like it, they fix their own. I do my best to fix things I think they will like and I will fix them pasta and just refrain from eating it myself, so it's not a major deal. The only one who truly complains is my oldest son. The youngest is like me and will try anything and enjoys different foods. The hubs will try something and unless he just can't handle it, will eat it even if he doesn't like it (just lets me know not to fix it for him again, lol). I'm also quite fortunate that he supports the changes in my body (less weight, increased muscle) and finds the changes attractive and desirable (altho he has never made me feel undesirable, no matter what my weight has been). My first husband was more like some of the others on here that was quite insecure and actually jealous when I had gotten into shape back in my late 30's/early 40's. Even accused me of trying to attract other men by losing weight. I was like, really? It doesn't occur to you that I want to be healthy and thought YOU might actually be attracted to me more?? Considering some of the very unkind words that man had uttered about some of the overweight ladies in our church, I was almost afraid to let my weight get too out of hand. The most I ever weighed while married to him was basically what I weigh now, other than when I was pregnant. I can only imagine if he had seen me at my heaviest of 168. My current husband has never been unkind to me about my weight and lets me know every single day how much he loves me and is attracted to me. Maybe it's because it's a second marriage for both of us (his first wife left him feeling very much unloved, undesirable and beaten down) that we realize the importance of building each other up rather than tearing each other down. Some days you might think we were rabid teenagers in love the way we act, lol. We've had several folks tell us how happy we both seem. It just makes my heart hurt to know that some men can be so careless with their affection (or lack thereof) and unsupportive of their wives, especially when she's doing her best to improve herself....for herself. We wives and mothers have to take care of ourselves if we expect to be able to take care of our families. And we need our husbands to support that!!

Exactly!!! I have a husband like yours. People call us "lovebirds". It makes such a difference when you have a supportive spouse.
