Some people lose well on keto. You may be one of them. I think the 10 lb you gained when you upped your carbs is probably water. We tend to carry less water when we are in ketosis but if we jump out of it we take up that water again. Good luck on journey. Keto on!!!

Different things work for different people. I will say, everything I have ever read on Low Carb ways of eating and Intermittent Fasting talk about the same thing: Managing Insulin levels. Personally, I find if I allow my carbohydrate intake to go above 20g (including most artificial sweeteners), I stop losing and can even gain weight really quickly. It's a shame because my wife loves to bake, and I love things with flour in them.

Thank you for your feedback and sharing. I have just stayed Keto...without experimenting too much...and certainly not as courageously as you did here today. Stay Calm; KETO on! Thanks so much.

10 pounds of fat requires a massive surplus of calories over a long period of time. https://examine.com/nutrition/what-should-you-eat-for-weight-loss/

"While regular overeating leads to fat gain, a lot of the weight you gain from just one binge will simply be water, especially if your starting glycogen stores are low and your food rich in carbs." https://examine.com/nutrition/can-one-binge-make-you-fat/

Diablo - look at my original post. . . I tried CICO for 6 weeks. I was in a calorie deficit that entire time. I'm allotted 1760 (to lose wt.) and I averaged 1650. I ate no processed food, lots of dark green veggies, lean proteins, a piece of fruit every day. I had my normal amount of water. No alcohol. I followed a diet that would make you proud. I met my MACRO's daily. And I gained weight. One week on KETO I lost 3 pounds. You say KETO doesn't work, well I've lost over 100 pounds, how is that not working? For the 100's of thousands of us that are seeing a significant difference I say KETO works. For those of us who have spent thousands of dollars and tried every diet, pill, exercise, etc. and struggled only to failed, I say again KETO works and is working for us.

Please show me where I said keto doesn't work. It works just like any other diet dictated by CICO. The law of thermodynamics is a law, not a theory. In hundreds if not thousands of metabolic ward studies there has never been an outlier that disproves CICO. You should offer your body to science if you truly believe your body subverts a law of the universe. I'm sure you'd make a pretty penny.

I can tell you are totally disregarding my links backed by science since you're adamant that you gained 10 pounds of fat while in a calorie deficit...

Can you explain it to me? Because I did everything by the book of CICO and gained. Please tell me what I did?

First of all, you have nothing logged for the last couple of months? How were you tracking calories? Another app? Second, do you have a food scale to measure your calories accurately? For every gram of carbs, you retain 3-4 grams of water. If you go from 20 carbs to 150+ you will retain a lot of water. You will also gain a lot of water if your sodium intake goes up.

but is it good for ur body and is it helping you loose the right type of weight?

Finally ready to help instead of hurt. We're getting somewhere. . . I kept a hand written food log, prepared every meal from scratch, I used two different food apps to check calories and nutritional facts. Everything was weighed out on a scale to the gram. I did not add any sodium to any of my food. Dairy was at a minimum, three table spoons in my coffee each day. No added sugar, zero. My water intake was 64 ounces per day to the drop.

Shxnn.n - My numbers have never been better. All my blood work is perfect. Blood pressure, blood sugar (A1C) cholesterol, everything is in the great zone. Im not on any medication either, I'm down to zero from 11 meds. So, is it good for my body, I think YES! Plus I've lost over 100 pounds.

Hmm, not sure why you wouldn't log calories on FS. It would make it easier for others to help. The only thing that can explain any scale gain is water weight. You have to understand that not one metabolic ward study that measured CICO had anyone gain 10 pounds of fat while eating 1600 calories, especially at your body weight. You would essentially have the most energy efficient body in history if that were possible.
