Hot and Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings

A very tasty dish that could be a appetizer or main course.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Put chicken wings in roasting pan and bake on 425 °F (210 °C) for an hour or until wings are crispy.
  2. In a separate pan melt butter then add garlic, Italian dressing pack, and jar of hot sauce (like Franks red hot) stir and heat till hot.
  3. Drain any excess juice from chicken wings once done cooking.
  4. Put chicken wings in a large container with a lid and add sauce mix and shake well.
  5. Serve with celery and cream cheese or blue cheese dressing. Enjoy!

As good as this sounds, i think i will pass on it. Way too much in cholesterol & fat.

I haven't tried this yet. But, there are 2 to 4 oz of meat on a chicken wing, depending on the size. I use a scale, it usually registers around 2 oz for wingettes.

6oz of meat would require more than 6 wings. One cannot count the wing bones which one would never eat to arrive at 6 oz of protein. This calorie count seems way off even with the butter (which is only 1 cube BTW for 10 lbs)since there isn't that much chicken in a pound of wings. There are only 500 calories in a pound of boneless, skinless chicken breast So how many calories in a tablespoon of butter, a tablespoon of garlic and a tenth of a tablespoon of italian dressing? That is real chicken, not just bone. This calorie count has to be wrong. BTW-Walden Farms has NO CALORIE BBQ SAUCES in three different flavors and I tried the hickory and it was pretty good considering that it has NO calories.

I tried this recipe tonight, cutting the wings by 1/2 and therefore the sauce by half (not feeding that many people). Sorry, did not like it at all. Had to doctor it up with chicken wing sauce to save the meal. I will look elsewhere for the perfect wing sauce. I believe the normal would be 1# per person which would yield about 4 medium to large chicken wings at approximately 95-100 calories per wing without sauce. Sauce is extra, but without butter can be enormously reduced in calories. Not the sauce for me.

I looked this over and think that the serving size is just high which makes the calories look crazy. If you do Atkins a serving is typically 6 oz which makes the chicken only 345 calories versus the 16 oz or 1 lb suggested as the serving size here to yield 921 calories. I think 6 oz is about 6 wings.

Sounds delicious but too much FAT! Fat from the skin on the wings and fat from the butter.
