I found myself at 290lbs in 4/2011 when I finally stepped on a scale for the first time in years. I started tracking calories with the lose it app and took 2 mile walks every other day. I managed to lose my first 20lbs by 7/2011. I managed to plateau and hang around 260's and 270's for the next year. I weighed 268 in 9/2013. I picked up WW and managed to lose the next 13lbs. But I hit another plateau and found myself here.

My husband is an active runner and Triathlete. After he completed his first marathon I decided it was time to get active in conjunction with diet. I didn't want to be seen as the fat and unhealthy wife at his races. I also didn't want my weight and inactivity to put a wedge in our relationship. I wasn't happy with how I looked and I realized even with the weight loss I'd still would likely have issues with loving my new less fat self. I needed to start loving my body now for it what it was capable of and not how it looks.

I found that being active was a way for me to not only love myself better but a way for us to have a stronger and more meaningful relationship. Now over a year later, I cannot imagine our life without running and triathlon! We support and encourage each other to grow and be better. My husband noted all that matters is we are striving to be best possible versions of ourselves. Our relationship is much more richer and meaningful as a result.

Since 11/2012 I've completed several 5k's, two 8k's, DNF'd (didn't finish) a sprint tri and as of 4/27/2014 I got my official Triathlete title!

2014 goals: finishing another 3 (maybe 4) sprint tri's and hopefully completing or starting training for my first half marathon!
