I am 42 year old mother of 3 and Grandmother of 1. I have been on many diets which do not have a long term effect. I have lost a lot of weight and have gained even more. I am still trying to figure this long term weight thing out. Hopefully here I can find the support that I need to achieve that goal as well as support others to achieve their goal. Last year I lost over 70lbs due to an unforeseen illness however, I have gained back 25lbs due to certain medications that make me constantly hungry and put on weight.
Weight loss and maintaining your weight can be different for everyone however I am hopeful that with getting to know a few people, sharing my knowledge and learning from others and what they are doing on their journey,I can find some commonality and support which will assist me in my goal in become a better and healthier me.

3. Stay away from Buffets

Oh, WATER12871, I completely agree with your #3. I always think I'm going to go with a plan to a buffet but it always falls through when I see the vast selection of foods available. I do focus on more veggies and lean meats, but those are a little rare on most buffets. I end of up eating dishes with too many carbs, cheese and fat. Best to not go if possible.

However, the one buffet I've been able to do well at is Souplantation. I fill my plate with all veggies and greens at the salad bar, then get 1-2 small servings of healthier soups/chili and completely avoid the bakery bar.

Buffet.... I learned the hard way. My RDI for that day was 150% My My My... Doubt

water12871, liking #6,7,8,9,12 especially eating your salad as a meal, why the hell not! I have grown (no pun intended) to love my salads for breakfast, lunch and dinner. # 8 My wife and I have agreed to go to the steak house and chow down once every week or every other week but I often find myself bringing 3/4 of my rib-eye home to enjoy the next day. And # 9 those damn saboteurs, there everywhere. Thanks for your contribution!

Mummydee, I use X 7 also, its a little light on cals but I lose 10 lbs per month, works for me!

Im new to this but I am learning a lot on here! Smile

List your twelve best "tips" that have worked for you to lose the weight
This is a Fantastic Thread. I have noted all of your tips. FS has been my new buddy and I hope to gain some more within the FS community. Good Luck to you all on your Journey. Not sure if I have 12 yet but here it goes.
1. Changing your relationship with food
2. Make Heatlhier choices at the Groceery store
3. Stay away from Buffets
4. Stay Away from those taste testers in the Grocery Stores. Wink
5. Drink Water not because you have to because it is good for you. I try to drink at least 80oz daily. It really helps the digestive system.
6. Eat Salad as a Meal not as a Side/Starter Dish. Fill it up with a lot of free foods.
7. Set, know and follow your RDI to lose weight/maintain(I thank FS for this one).
8. Eat what your heart desires at leat once a week (watching your Caloric intake of course). It will keep you from binging.
9. Find someone/group to support your journey. Remembering sometimes it is our closet friends and family who will sometimes unknowingly sabotage your every effort.
10. Walk, Walk, Move, Move. It doesnt matter what you do just keep moving! Gardening, window shopping, walk to the store instead of driving.
11. find what works for you
12. Set Yourself Up For Sucess! (SYUFS)

How Often Do you weigh yourself?
Every Monday Morning before Breakfast. Sometimes I will weigh on a Friday as well if I think I had a bad week of eating.
