Hello. I have been on/off this site for years. Have tried mostly low carb with some success in the beginning. Have had many struggles the last years and finally have decided to take more drastic measures. I meet with a surgeon this month to book bariatric surgery.
I am 45 years old, have had weight problems since I was in my early twenties and I hAve tried all sorts of eating and exercise programs to lose weight and stay healthy.
This year my health has taken a turn for the worse. Newly diagnosed with bi-lateral foot arthritis, sleep apnea, high cholesterol, borderline BP issues and lastly Diabetes:(. My previous problems have been IBS, early menopause (lack of periods even though my bloodwork is all normal?? Weird!), hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, PTSD, anxiety disorder, idiopathic edema.
My weight beginning of December of last year (2014) was 263. I am 5'4" so that put me at over 43 BMI. I entered the weight loss surgery program at my local hospital 2 weeks later and now I am just waiting to fulfill the requirements set forth by insurance to proceed to have sleeve gastrectomy. Probably late June or early July. (Surgery now set for July 8....long wait ugh)
I welcome any and all experiences in both surgical and LC eating to help me.
Update: revision surgery in June 2017 to RNY.
Weightloss stall again for many months. Trying different LC WOE...KETO modified to meet protein needs.
2018 update: (November 24 2018) almost 49 now. KETO wol has been the best for me. Has helped with so many health issues I had had. My doctors are all super happy with my progress, my bloodwork is fantastic, I feel better than I have in years and feel I should eat this way forever.
