I am married with two awesome children. Both children, just like I was growing up, are very active in sports and are runners. My 4th grade daughter just ran a 5K in 26 minutes. My high school son runs cross country and track. My wife is small. I am the one with the weight problem.
Like most men, very athletic growing up, I assumed all my needed calories where still needed as I got older. So weight just started gaining and gaining. By the time I left the Navy in 2002 after 10 years, I had gained 40 lbs since I joined in 1991. But, since 2002 I gained another 40 lbs. I recently was told I have high blood pressure, so I am ready to lose this weight. I currently weigh 240, or did three weeks ago. Plan to weigh myself after the gym today. My goal weight is 190.
I have a desk job managing people so I do not move much unless I get to the gym. I am tired of making excuses and not being as active with my children as I wish I could be. Wouldn't it be nice to actually be able to jog with one of them.
