Two years ago I had hit rock bottom. I was 265 lbs. I'm 5'10" tall, I looked enormous and felt even worse.
I started Weight Watchers. For the first year I didn't exercise, just stuck to the points. The weight came off, slowly but surely! 65 lbs into my weight loss journey I joined a gym. I started doing Zumba and other "fun" classes, when the instructors noticed my zeal and consistancy they encouraged me to join a triathlon training group. I hadn't gotten into a swimming suit in 5 years, much less a pool! Let's not even talk about how my first outdoor road bike went ;^)
I joined the class and, during last summer, made friends with a group of amazing people. Being around like minded friends who want the best for you, who don't push food or knock diet and exercise...it's addicting. I lost 20 more lbs last summer.
Admittedly, I gained 10 lbs this winter, but I'm working to remedy that! I've started training for this summer's triathlon series. I'll be doing 3 triathlons, as many 5k's as I can squeeze in and ending my summer (in September) with my first 1/2 marathon!!!
I started using my calorie counter on my droid, instead of Weight Watchers. Weight Watchers was an amazing tool, but it's not working for my training nutrition. I'm counting calories and working towards my ultimate goal of 165. That may seem high to some, but I'm 5'10" and I'm already a comfortable size 12 and a Medium in tops. I would like to be an 8 by the end of summer. I'm getting a tummy tuck next January and my physician said I need to have lost everything I hope to lose before he does the surgery.
So, here goes!!!!
